I got sucked into wargaming at the tender age of eight. I was playing Dungeons and Dragons at ten. Right after college, some friends introduced me to Eurogames. Now? Now it's anything that will hold my attention. I like elegant rule systems and thoughtful mechanics.
I've tried to do some game design, and found that I'm always one step behind the curve. Frankly, I'm just not good enough. There's an itch to scratch there, though, and so I may try and pull a design together some day.
I've been doing a lot of miniature painting recently, especially for the D&D games I play in. It's relaxing. Good hobby. Helps keep me sane, and I enjoy the satisfaction of a painted piece, and the compliments I get on what I do.
I also have a loving wife, three boys, and a little girl. Marriage is wonderful. Kids are awesome. Y'all should try it. Not least of which because you get to train your own gamers!
I've done some writing about gaming with the kids, and it's fun to share my hobby with them. To wit:An RPG for the Kindergarten SetA 1-on-1 Dogfight with My Six Year OldA House Divided With My Six Year OldA First Play With My Seven Year Old
