Thank you for posting this video. I've been wondering what the game looks like once set up and what the miniatures are for. This video sold me on the game! :-)

The second deck-builder was Arctic Scavengers.

While I would semi-agree with your comment about Arctic Scavengers, I would argue that it wasn't exactly a mainstream title.

Good point. That definitely fits the deck-building description, but seems to have been over-looked in all this Dominion/Thunderstone/Graxia/Ascension discussion.

I bought Heroes of Graxia last night and played a game. Enjoyed it quite a bit, so thanks again for this video.

Or he could do what several of them do and create a geeklist that he adds each new video too and then includes the link to the list on each video.

I guess you could call it that, which in my opinion would be a compliment to the developers since it kind of feels like that is the audience they were seeking. For someone whom is a bit compulsive like I am and always wants to buy everything they can to keep pace in a game, Magic just can't be that game for me anymore. Having a car payment, a mortgage and a family, I don't have room to buy expansion every six months. A game like Heroes of Graxia fills that void with a minimal cost investment.

Win/Win for some of us.

Jeremy,

Why don't you just print your own magic cards and make proxies? That is what I do.

I have multiple vintage decks and a vintage cube. All for the cost of paper and ink, and they look like the real thing.

You can't use them in tournaments, but who cares?

I understand your point, mainly b/c I do a ton of printing like this at my work, though not MtG related.

I am a collector by nature though, so printing isn't always the best option for someone like me. It's like asking me to settle for a Pinto with a Mercedes logo on the grill when I all I really wanted was the Mercedes in the first place.

I would consider MtG to be one of the best CCG's ever, but not the best.

LotR TCG and Star Wars CCG's were much better.

Magic is excellent though.

P.S. This thread has totally derailed. Let's stick with Heroes talk-back for now !!

Why does Arcana never come up as a deck building game? I challenge you to research and review it. You will be suprised. It is worthy and it has been reviewed by many others. At the very least, please check it out on BGG. It is truly the only way you can speak on balance on deck building.

I had Arcana, you can see it in my previously owned list. It us not a very fun game at all. Just my opinion.

Nice choice of video to review. I like that even though its about components you talk about the game itself, otherwise card games like this would get very little time for you I would assume.

I don't have this game (yet), so I can't answer this myself...

Regarding the insert and sleeves, is it possible to cut away the parts that form the support for the hollow bottom, or reverse fold them so that the hollow part is eliminated?

awesome artwork especially that creature in the beginning. The goblin i think.

Noticed in the background Guardians of Graxia. With a board. How does that compare? Are they separate games?

I know that on the front page for this game here on BBG it says about 1 hour play time. Can it be played in less time that than with 2 people?

My wife and I like to have a game of something every now and then. We got Warhammer Invasion a few weeks ago (what a great game) and she finds it a little "heavy" so to speak (though she still really enjoys playing it). Partly because of the amount of time it takes to play a game and second due to the rules (a lot of the rules are a bit unclear). Having said that she loves WOW TCG and MTG. This leads me in to my second question for you Jeremy.

I wanted to get Thunderstone or Ascension with Graxia, would I be wrong in thinking that Ascension and Graxia would be a better pick than Thunderstone (again, with regards to what I stated above)?

Thanks in advance mate.

PS: Anyone else please jump in

Edit: By the way, I know that these games are not like Invasion, MTG etc. Both of us are interested in the whole Deck Building thing that is going on right now. Cheers.

I like the look of this one! I'm getting out of MTG and looking at different card games to get into. I still want Dominion as my first choice but I feel this one will nudge Thunderstorm to third.

Oh and I actually like the color of the miniatures

Guardians of Graxia is a completely different game that uses the same game world, same units, and same artwork. It supports 1v1 or 1vAI only. Think of it as more of a battle game on a grid, rather than a deckbuilding game.

There is also a PC version on Steam, which is fun.
