Board to Death TV reviews Macao. They give it 8 out of 10 and summarize the game thusly.

What's Cool:
Nice production quality.
Many ways of getting victory points.
Turn order changes often.
Great player boards with summaries.
Good rulebook.

What's Not:
Some cards need to be better explained.
Can take a while to teach new players.

Neutral Information:
Not a very long game, depending on the group.
Strategy and luck are well combined.
Can take up a lot of room.

P.S. I have permission to post the Board to Death reviews at this site.

They find the strangest things to complain about.

"If only they would've supplied us with six little bags for the cubes..."

$2 at Wal-Mart. Done.

I think it's important that the game comes with what is needed to pack it back in there. All those tiny cubes are hurdled together in what looks like a massive destruction of a city. Only two plastic bags, and loads of components to put nowhere, unless you want to start sorting everything every time. Game packages should be planned! Or at least have many additional bags for whatever use you want.

Um, unless you have problems with color blindness, it isn't like it's that difficult to pick out the colors you need. Sheesh! THIS GAME RULES! 8 out of 10 is an insult, in my (not so humble) opinion.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents here. When I see a new game I want to buy I look to see who has a video review... and I am happiest when there is one by either Dice Tower or Board to Death.

I find both reviewers engaging to watch for different reasons. Dice Tower reviews move quickly and keep me interested, yours do a great job showing what is inside the game with a concise quick overview (and I appreciate the quality in the way it is edited).

I guess the reason I felt the need to post this, is it always erks me to see 'this other reviewer' who seems to get more thumbs then you guys. {as was the case here with Macao} I just don't get why... his reviews are sooo drawn out and dull (like siting across from someone at dinner as they drone on and on and on about something).

I for one support the Board to Death revolution!

I agree. BTD rocks. But I really miss Scott Nicholson. No board game reviewer is as thorough, accurate or coherent when it comes to explaining the rules of a game. (Except maybe Tim Kerby, Kerbster76 on youtube) I was bummed when he decided to retire.

Yeah, this is something I could never understand. Games come with all these awesome components, but publishers can't be bothered to add ten cents worth of nice, sturdy plastic bags. C'mon!

What a great review format. Short, to the point and while explaining something, your finger isn't moving all over the place.

After seeing the explanation, I now know this is not a game I should buy.
