Board to Death TV reviews Through the Ages: A Story of Civilization. Steve gives it 8.5, and Felicia 7.5 out of 10 and they summarize the game thusly.

What's Cool:
You really go through all the ages from Moses to Albert.
It's a very strategic game with nothing really random to it.
Great Production quality.
Each player has his own board.
The summary cards are very useful.
The rule book is good with lots of examples and good explanations.

What's Not:
The player turns can sometimes be long.
It's hard to catch up if you are a failing civilization.
A lot of things to remember.
It's hard to teach new players.

Neutral Information:
It's a board game version of the XBOX game: Civilization.

P.S. I have permission to post the Board to Death reviews at this site.

Great review but I don't see how this is a board game version of the Sid Meier's: Civilization Revolution. Unless you mean to use that as an example of something it is similar to. There is a Civilization board game which (if I recall correctly) is what Sid used as his basis for the computer games. However there is also a Sid Meier's: Civilization board game and any number of other games more like the watered down Xbox version of the series.

Through the Ages is based most closely on Civilization III. Civ: Revolution is a stripped-down version of Civilization IV.

I think I died a little inside when he used the 360 version of Civilization instead of the board game or original PC versions of the game.
