Imho from looking at this is looks like the Avalon Hill version looks best by far.
I liked the ships earlier when I saw them but the planets look better, the .. err. dead space look better. The cards look better, the aliens look better
But I guess FFG is the one to go for simply for the expansions.
I think my local game shop got both though. Which would had been quite amazing. Or well, they had two when I was there earlier but they may not have it any more.
I'm still not decided whatever to get the game though. Seem very chaotic and random.
But I love how you talked about the masochist who want to have all his ufos destroyed, because that will totally mess up how you fight and whatever others want you to join or not (I don't see why you should join though, unless maybe with just one ship if someone is really weak or so , maybe it make sense with more to to lose faster.)
I would had loved a video with all the alien races and what ability they had in short just as that one and the human one.
