Pandemic is a co-operative game about fighting four viruses that try to spread around the world.
What I like about the game is the simplicity and the fact that you can play a game in about 45 minutes. The components are mostly wooden and the cards and the board are decent.
The co-operative Pandemic is (for me at least) difficult and you can make it even more difficult with the rules but the easiest (=hard) level is enough for me at the moment. I think you will get better with the game and can spank up the difficulty level with more plays under your belt but for the newbies the easiest level is hard enough.
Co-op can easily turn into one player saying what all others should do but I do hope that that kind of idiot-players are rare and people can enjoy Pandemic as what it is; a nice co-op social game.
Will Pandemic keep it's appeal for a long time? There are reviews of that here in BGG and I haven't got enough plays to say that but from my experience Pandemic feels a bit too simple or repetitive to be interesting after many plays. I assume that the on the Brink -expansion will add enough variation to fix that.
I like Pandemic but only with 3-4 players that have correct attitude towards playing it. I can easily recommend it to most people but not strongly since the co-op type of play may not suit everybody and the theme and the mechanics of the game may put down many players.
That said I can recommend people to TRY it and make your own mind of Pandemic. I liked it and will play it if someone asks but most likely I won't bring it to the table very often myself.
