Avatars cost 30 GeekGold.

Avatars, along with GeekBadges, Microbadges, Patron's Badge, and UberGeekBadges are used to customize your Graphical User Representation on BoardGameGeek.

Most Internet forums allow the use of Avatars. BoardGameGeek requires users to contribute content before allowing the purchase of an avatar. Contributed content earns GeekGold, which can be paid back to the site to purchase the right to upload a customized graphic avatar. Once purchased, the Avatar can be modified at any time. The Avatar image is displayed as part of the user's Graphical User Representation wherever the user has contibuted content on the site.

A list of all user's Avatar images can be found here.

Avatars can be animated or still and have a size limit of 64 x 64 pixels, images larger than this are resized. Avatar files must take up no more than 100kb.
