So it was another busy month here, work wise, life wise. We managed to get some games in and end out the year on what has been our most productive ever in terms of games played really. Probably a good thing as well as the collection has continued to grow ever larger as well. The main goal I had of beating a hundred plays after we failed last year was easily achieved this time around. We shattered that by May. Although it tailed of somewhat by the years end. Just having a table has helped in that regard.

In terms of this month however The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game led the way again as I continued my trials and tribulations on that and added another five plays. I have all the content now and despite that there's much I haven't delved into.

We played four games of Aeon's End: Legacy creeping ever closer to finishing our campaign although we discovered yet another scenario hidden away beneath the insert we needed to try losing our first battle.

We played Lost Ruins of Arnak three more times this month as well mainly as Hannah continued to enjoy it me less so especially playing more of it so quickly it just doesn't entertain me as much.

We played a couple of games of Carcassonne this month as well one of which was probably the worst game I've ever had of it. Just ridiculously bad. But then I did pull it back to win the second.

We also played Ticket to Ride: Europe a couple more times as well since we hadn't for a good few months.

Likewise holiday free time meant we could Mansions of Madness: Second Edition out and get a game in as well although we lost again. Which I think we have nearly every time. It's a weird one we seemed to be doing ok but then suddenly have run out of time.

With it being the holidays, more free time and sales and such going around we also managed to add to the collection again as well. We started by adding Catan which Hannah picked up on offer. She also had her order of Lost Ruins of Arnak: Expedition Leaders arrive.

Plus I finished my player card collection of The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game this month albeit missing some of the stand alone scenarios and nightmare packs as well. But I added the final saga expansion The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game – The Mountain of Fire. Then the final few packs, The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game – The Crossings of Poros, The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game – The Treachery of Rhudaur, and The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game – The Battle of Carn Dûm.

despite having two weeks holiday this month for our anniversary it didnt quite mean we managed to play more games sadly as we lost most of a week sorting out other things. With work to it meant we didn't quite get as much in as expected this month although we did get a few more games than last month.

I did as ever play The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game managed three plays of this continuing to use the Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas deck i built and try out some new quests for me taking on some of the Harad scenarios winning Race across Harad, and losing beneath the sands.

We continued our Aeon's End: Legacy campaign winning game six after losing game five. Continued to enjoy this.

We also broke out Calico again and grabbed a couple of games of this since we hadn't for a few months.

We played a couple of games of Everdell trying out the final expansion we own in Everdell: Bellfaire. It was ok nothing to different in there. The market was ok, much of the rest I don't think adds to much especially the player boards really as it largely means even more table space on a game that is huge as it is.

One evening we also played a couple of games of Firefly: Shiny Dice again it isn't spectacular. Hannah loves the theme brought it because of that and it isn't a long game.

We played a couple of games of Lost Ruins of Arnak which Hannah continues to love. She did lose both games this month her first loses one of which was a hammering as well. She is very much looking forward to the new expansion and maybe not using the serpent board again next time.

We also finally broke out our copy of Mage Knight Board Game and finally played it. We've had it a long time never managed to get it out feeling slightly intimidated by the size of it. But we made a concerted effort this month and played it twice while we had it there. Setup is pretty big and it is heavy but we did both enjoy it and liked the puzzle it presented.

We finished up our latest Arkham Horror: The Card Game game completing the Arkham Horror: The Card Game – The Forgotten Age: Expansion with a final play.

Finally we added another game to our Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion campaign as well winning a scenario, both levelling up and managing to open our first new box as well!

A few days of this month to celebrate our anniversary has of course meant more games. More games has meant Hannah has been browsing for more to add to the collection. So we have added Aeon's End: War Eternal, to our collection, and also picked up one of the expansions for Everdell we were missing in Everdell: Bellfaire. Ending the month Hannah's pre order of Arkham Horror: The Card Game – Edge of the Earth: Campaign Expansion also turned up.

Another month gone now and we're heading towards the end of the year. It's been a huge year for us in terms of games played many more than before making full use of the table and chair we picked up. This month was a slight dip again in terms of plays largely because of a busy month work wise. Hopefully with some free time in November and the holidays in December we'll end the year on another big high.

The highest plays this month was The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game I grabbed five games of this, this month finishing a spell with a ranger deck and then building another with Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas.

We started our campaign of Aeon's End: Legacy. Currently four games in and we've won them all but they were very close as always and could have swung either way and it is a slight change up from.the base game as you customise your own breech mage.

We played Lost Ruins of Arnak as Hannah still loves and wants the expansion now as well when its available. But it is a different experience and a fun game.

We had another game of Arkham Horror: The Card Game continuing our campaign of the forgotten age.

We had a game of Everdell and tried out the Everdell: Spirecrest for the first time as well bringing it into the game which made it more heavy I felt but still fun.

We played a game of Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion continuing our campaign with another lose as we tried out the hatchets own scenario.

Finally we played a game of The Isle of Cats which Hannah won comfortably in the end. But it was another fun game and Hannah does enjoy this one to.

We did manage to find room for another addition to the collection. This time with me adding The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game – The Flame of the West to my lord of the rings collection.

Another month gone and more games played albeit less this month since early this year. Mostly due to work commitments but we still managed to keep things ticking along.

Top of the played games this month was The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game which was me playing solo and getting in a half dozen games. Been working on a ranger deck this month hadn't been very successful.

We got a couple more games of Arkham Horror: The Card Game continuing the forgotten age campaign and making more progress through it.

We played two games of Carcassonne as we had it out to play one night and got interrupted but played it a few days later.

We grabbed two games of Pandemic: Reign of Cthulhu as well just getting a few more games in since we hadn't tried it for awhile.

We played another game of Aeon's End trying out some of the new cards from the expansion we brought recently.

We played the last game of Charterstone in our campaign. We usurped the forever king but tallying up the final scores for the campaign I ascended the throne myself partly i think because of the high cost buildings I had accumulated.

We had another game of Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion still working through our campaign. It was another close game just losing at the end although the event did gain us armour.

We had another game of Lost Ruins of Arnak which Hannah loves a lot and enjoys.

Finally we also played a game of Wingspan this time using the oceania expansion and adding in those cards and the nectar.

Another new addition this month as well. Hannah got her first new expansion for Arkham Horror: The Card Game when the Arkham Horror: The Card Game – Edge of the Earth: Campaign Expansion arrived.

August's recap is the tale of another solid months additional plays as we had a little time of. Also if last month was more the pandemic month this one was certainly more Charterstone month. 11 times we played this over the month after we started our campaign and we've had some fun with it finally getting it to the table as we had it a good while after I brought it awhile back. But the fun we had with pandemic obviously encouraged Hannah to play another legacy game despite her hating stickers and the like. One final game to go with this and then I'm just curious to see whether we would play it afterwards in its finished state or not.

Aside from that we also grabbed four games of Wingspan which was fine although the more we play this the more the opening random card draw is starting to bother me as it can just be crucial and sometimes it can just be dire.

Otherwise I also played four games of The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game this month trying out a silvan deck which was fun to use if maybe not the best. Think I was 50-50 on games won which wasn't the worst certainly but without a solid defender and maybe lacking raw willpower at times some scenarios are tough.

We continued out Forgotten age campaign as well this month playing a couple games of Arkham Horror: The Card Game. Hannah loves this and I don't but at least this campaign was better than Carcossa which I didn't like at all. The theme and setting here was slightly better.

On the topic of jungle adventures though we also opened up Lost Ruins of Arnak which I know Hannah loves. We'll have to see about how I feel on this and play more games. I don't mind it but scoring seems very weighted towards the research track over actually exploring but we'll see of more games and experience changes things.

We also played Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion a couple more times continuing our campaign. We started the month on another scenario rather than the main story so to speak and I think we got lucky on our searches as we literally had 6 for 6 encountered no more additional enemies and won through easily. The second game was back to scenario 9 which we last lost against but higher levels now we did succeed this time.

Then we had a game of Aeon's End which I still enjoy, and then tried out a couple more games. Back to the Future: Dice Through Time and then The Castles of Burgundy. Back to the future was ok a little dull for my tastes I think both of Hannah's back to the future games are like that but she loves the theme. Castles of Burgundy she wanted as it's a great two player game. For me after one game admittedly I don't know it felt like a maths puzzle rather than a game but we'll have to see if more plays changes things.

Also we did as always manage to add some new things to the collection. Aeon's End: Buried Secrets as another expansion to our Aeon's end collection.

We have had another productive month here although it has been dominated by a single game play wise. This month was in many way Pandemic month as we powered through our campaign of season one finally bringing it to a conclusion. We had 27 plays this month in total the second highest this year so far.

In total we had 14 games of Pandemic Legacy: Season 1 to finish of our campaign and complete it after having had it around for several years it was fun to clear this one.

I managed to grab 4 plays of The Lord of the Rings: The Card Gamena slower month for this partly because we we're playing a lot of Pandemic in the evenings. This mainly involved trying out some new heroes I've not used before.

Also in our Lcg's collection we continued our campaign of Arkham Horror: The Card Game – The Forgotten Age: Expansion with a couple of plays heading into the adventure packs now.

We also had a couple of games of Everdell and used the Everdell: Pearlbrook expansion for the first time with this.

Talking of expansions we played a couple more games of Wingspan and used the Wingspan: European Expansion for the first time as well.

We also continued our adventures with Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion getting another game of this in which we lost sadly.

We added another play of Aeon's End as well taking on another of the Nemesis.

Finally we finished up with a single play of the The Isle of Cats.

So another productive month in terms of our plays. We've easily hit the goal of a hundred this year, completed our first legacy game finishing Pandemic now as well. Even managed to get out some older games we haven't played in an age and now with August coming and some time of hopefully we'll get another good month of games in now as well.

Finally we almost made it through the month with no new additions to the collection until we finished Pandemic and Hannah decided that after our fun with the first season we should add Pandemic Legacy: Season 2.

It was yet another busy month in June. Me and Hannah played less games together mainly as there wasn't much in the way of time of this month and football started which has directed my attention at times to. Despite that the number of plays hit 24 driven in part by me playing The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game. I got eight plays in and after a string of defeats not unusual i finally beat Cair Andros and then delved on with that cycle completing the Stewards Fear and the Drudan forest as well.

After that we did finally get Pandemic Legacy: Season 1 out after Hannah finally got over her fear of stickers and destroying cards. She leaves it to me to do it and looks the other way! But we have had luck maybe? So far we're four months into the campaign and only had to retry one month though I think we came perilously close on several.

Then we dived into another old game in our collection and played Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Board Game as Hannah loved the tv show and this was one of the first games she brought I think. We played it once and then never again. But we grabbed a couple of games as we thought about whether to keep it or not.

On the topic of campaign games we also continued Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion and our campaign with the Void Warden and Hatchet. Elhena and Aberax and got in a couple more games of this as well and I levelled up to three now.

We played Wingspan again this month as well playing a couple of games of this and winning a game apiece.

We also played a game of Aeon's End which we both enjoy as a slightly different experience to our lcg's.

Talking of which we did manage a game of Arkham Horror: The Card Game and started our latest campaign this time into the forgotten age. My experience of one game was I much preferred this to Carcossa but we'll see it's early days!

Then at the end of the month with all Hannah's splurge games arriving we first grabbed a couple of quick games of Ticket to Ride: London and then played through the first case of our Unlock!: Escape Adventures which was the formula spoilers we didn't exactly break any records!

As always we seem to keep the collection growing still at the moment as well. Hannah wanted to try yet another card game and brought Heroes of Terrinoth. I continued my quest to complete my collection of The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game and managed to grab a copy of The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game – The Dread Realm.

Hannah always won a competition this month and got Mansions of Madness: Second Edition – Sanctum of Twilight: Expansion. Then she decided to go on a big splurge at the end of the month and we got swamped with new arrivals. Azul, Ticket to Ride: London, Unlock!: Escape Adventures, Lost Ruins of Arnak, The Castles of Burgundy and Aeon's End: Legacy all turned up!

From gallery of Sarus85

Also her pre order of Arkham Horror: The Card Game – Return to the Circle Undone also turned up as well so we now have a stack of games under the table as the kallax is now currently full.........will this stop Hannah acquiring anymore games now? Probably now...........

It was a busy month again here continuing our recent trend of shattering all records of plays thanks to it being Hannah's birthday and having a week free we took some time to get a good chunk of games in and making it even more certain I'm likely to shatter my goal of at least a hundred plays in this year. We're only four plays short of that now so June should see us ease past that number into uncharted territory then so to speak!

In terms of plays this month, the way was led by Arkham Horror: The Card Game which we played nine games of. Mostly this was finishing our Paths to Carcossa campaign which we lost ultimately. But also Hannah wanted to try out some of her standalone scenario's and investigator decks which we did.

We also finally brought Everdell out finally as well and managed six games of this. Kind of funnily though I think Hannah actually prefers this game to Wingspan after playing both recently.

Our latest card game that came this month also got a try. We grabbed three games of Aeon's End two against the Rageborne one of which we did win and a loss against the Carapace queen. We both like card games and having seen videos of this I wanted to try it and it was fun definitely different to our lcg's.

Speaking of which it was a slow month for The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game I only managed three games. Partly this was Hannah and me playing more which meant I wasn't solo gaming a lot. But I did lure her into celebrating my 200th recorded game with a try of the first hobbit saga quest and then also managed to beat to catch an orc scenario which was fun.

For the first time in a long time we also managed to get in a couple of games of Firefly: The Game. We hadn't played this in a long time! So it was fun to get it out again and Hannah's new mat helped. It does take up so much room though.

We continued our Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion campaign this month as well and added a couple more games of this basically finishing of the tutorial section of the game and finally being ready know to head out into the game proper and explore some new scenario's.

We also got in our first games of The Isle of Cats which took a bit of time to get used to given the drafting system was something very different to anything we've tried before really. But Hannah enjoyed it and I think will likely be looking at the Kickstarter this month for the expansion that's coming. Part of the reason we got it out to finally play.

Ending the month because I'd roped Hannah into playing a game of lord of the rings my payment was playing Jane Austen's Matchmaker: Chapter Two. We played a couple of games of this. Hannah playing thematically and me playing with logic. I won twice not sure what that says about Hannah and her theme though.......

We grabbed a game of Ticket to Ride: Europe as well as we have an expansion there to try out at some point and felt like we needed more games before we explore that.

Finally rounding the month of we managed to slip in a final game of Mansions of Madness: Second Edition. Specifically we actually played a scenario from Mansions of Madness: Second Edition – Horrific Journeys: Expansion as it was late in the day when we started and didn't want to be there for three or four hours plus. But we did manage to win kind of anyway as Hannah technically didn't but on the plus side purely by chance Jim Culver was a beast in that scenario.

As always we managed to acquire some new games and expansions this month. First of all we added Aeon's End and then as a big addition this month Sleeping Gods. Hannah also picked up a few new expansions. Mansions of Madness: Second Edition – Horrific Journeys: Expansion, The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game – The Antlered Crown, Arkham Horror: The Card Game – The Lair of Dagon: Mythos Packand also Ticket to Ride Map Collection: Volume 5 – United Kingdom & Pennsylvania.

As a surprise she also had Everdell: Pearlbrook and Everdell: Spirecrest because I brought them for her as a birthday present!

We also parted ways with T.I.M.E Stories and all the expansions. We finished them all and having no desire to play them again we would rather have some more space in the collection.

Another busy month of games played this month as we worked through the collection and dived into some new additions. The Easter break has helped bolster the plays with more free time available and made sure we're well on course to break the hundred plays for the year target which was one I was hoping to get past this year.

We registered 24 plays this month, One less than last month but still our second highest ever monthly total. This included:

6 plays of The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game mainly toying with some Dwarfs I've never used before like Balin and Bilbo's tactics version. Mainly as i'm trying to lure Hannah into some plays probably trying a saga campaign.

6 plays of Wingspan Hannah's new game. We got through a few games of this and it was an interesting to finally try it out. I know Hannah loves it, I find it good, without being mindblowing as it seems a bit swingy at times to me.

4 plays of T.I.M.E Stories: Madame finally finishing of the white box expansions. I don't think we'll be rushing into the blue boxes. Whilst this final box was good early especially the ending was just an abomination.

3 Plays of Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion starting out on our campaign using the Hatchet and the Voidwarden. Early to say but I do enjoy this game and having not played Gloomhaven can see the benefit of the smaller box better tutorial for leading you into the game.

2 games of Calico finally broke this game open as well since Hannah had it here for awhile.

1 Play of Mansions of Madness: Second Edition playing a second game of this.

2 games of Pandemic as Hannah is still trying to work herself up into playing the legacy version and wanted to get into the rules again.

We also added a few new games again this month. A couple more expansions for the The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game. The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game – The Land of Shadow saga and The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game – Race Across Harad. Hannah also added Arkham Horror: The Card Game – Into the Maelstrom: Mythos Pack for her Arkham Horror: The Card Game. On top of which since we've played Wingspan she also bought the second expansion Wingspan: Oceania Expansion.

It has been a busy month of played games here. When we first started playing more the first year really in 2019 I wanted to register a hundred plays, which we just about managed. Last year I wanted to beat that although because of the pandemic, life, general issues of needing more.space for big games we didn't make it falling short. For 2021 I want to hopefully get back over a hundred plays for the year and just generally play more of the collection.

This is some general context because this month we hit 25 plays, the most I've ever recorded. It was really Time stories month in a lot of ways. As the bulk of plays were on some of the various cases we had. Partly this was because some more space is probably needed on the shelves so it may be a case we part with them once we're finished.

But the list is:

A single playthrough of Arkham Horror: The Card Game, starting out on our paths to carcossa campaign. A brief summary of the game was it didn't end well.

Two plays of T.I.M.E Stories: Expedition – Endurance. Which we started last month but didn't manage to finish it of. It took a couple more runs but we finished it of this time. Had to say it was my most disappointing case to play through as well.

Two plays of Carcassonne. Not much to be said about this. It's quick easy to play had a couple of games one evening tried out the river expansion in one of those as well. We shared the games one win apiece.

Two games of 221B Baker Street: The Master Detective Game. Hannah likes this we continue to play through it occasionally gradually working our way through the cases in the base game. One of these was a basic crack the code case something a little different to the other's we've seen so far.

Three plays of another Time stories case. This one T.I.M.E Stories: Estrella Drive. This wasn't my favourite case we've ever played. Wasn't the worst but the theme wasn't my favourite of those we've played through.

Four plays of another case. This one T.I.M.E Stories: Brotherhood of the Coast. This one was a good one for me. Loved the theme more than some of the others and the story was fun even if we didn't necessarily like some of the options available.

Five games of The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game. I always try to get a few games of this on. Some this month were using a Dunedain deck in some Khazad Dum quests and testing a few hero's i've never tried before.

6 plays of T.I.M.E Stories: Lumen Fidei. The theme of this was fun. Definitely interesting with some fun changes involved. It did have some issues. It was extremely combat heavy and at moments just rolling some bad dice just meant you were dead no questions with nothing to mitigate it. It felt very punishing at times.

Finally for the month, we did make a few additions to the collection. The latest expansion for Arkham joined Hannah's collection. Also we added Wingspan and the Wingspan: European Expansion, as well as Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion both something that's going to be interesting to try out soon hopefully!
