This past Sunday, my family had its first annual Hobo Party. We spent the better part of the year going to thrift stores and yard sales looking for gifts. We also made gifts. One of the gifts I made was for my husband. When I first saw COD WARS: Iceland vs. Great Britain in the 1970s, I knew I had found a game that my husband would really enjoy. I'm pretty sure there's a little wargamer hiding within him, and I hope to draw him out.

My mom was a big help in getting everything printed for Cod Wars. Other than scrapbook paper and glue, some black duct tape and card sleeves, I think everything else came from other thrifted game parts.

I re-purposed an old Balderdash board, with one half being the Cod Wars board and the other half simply a place to set components that are not in play. I used some black duct tape on the center of the board to maintain a black border throughout. The best box I had that would fit the board was a 3D Labyrinth box. So I covered it with fabric, and christened it a Cod Wars box.

Double sided cards... ooh didn't see that coming. Not something I wanted to do on my first PnP, but this is the game I wanted to give to my husband, so to work I went. The fronts and backs didn't line up exactly, but I centered all of the fronts in case at some point in the future I want to add new backs without having to reprint the fronts. The sleeves were made buy cutting the tops off of little zip locks.

The counters- I'm really happy with how they turned out, they're nice and thick. I re-used game pieces from The Amazing Race board game to make the inner bulk of the Cod Wars counters. (I peeled off the outer paper first.) Box insert cardboard from 3D Labyrinth was used for the backing of the Cod Wars counters. It's a very nice blue. I'll also be keeping a thrifting eye out for suitable fishing boats to jazz it up. Thank you Pete Beli for designing and sharing this game.

I'm sure we will be playing any day now!

I didn't take pictures, but this year I gave just about everyone Gemini dice. So I also made dice bags and dice trays that turned out well. Those were fun to make, so I'll be making more.

I've been picking up bags of pogs at thrift stores for about a year now. I have no interest in playing the actual game, but think of them more like trading cards. I go through them and pick out the ones I want to keep and pass along the rest. My husband and nieces all have quite the collections now.

Until last week, I had less than 10 pogs in my collection. Maybe I'll write about those at a later time. One from the first bunch however, was a Lucy (Peanuts) pog. Since finding that one, I have been on the search for more Peanuts on pogs.

Last week I came home with a jackpot. There were lots of Peanuts in the bag. -Even duplicates. They are from two different sets, but only one set is numbered. I figure that it won't hurt to list the duplicates for trade in this blog. Maybe there's another collector here just waiting for an oddball like me.

These are from the Psychedelic series. I also found some representative images online.

So for trade, I have the following:
