Miniature Games Construction Yard

In this blog I'll talk about various miniature games. Custom miniatures and minor conversions are my favorite pastime. I'll cover scenery making and painting too. The WIP you'll see here is all about Necromunda, Epic 40,000, Warhammer Fantasy 5th Edition, Warmaster and Warhammer 40K 3rd Edition.

Toughness +2

Skill 1: Leap
Skill 2: Counter Attack
Skill 3: Berserk Charge
Skill 4: Body Slam

I know I could make him more invulnerable by adding more Wounds, True Grit and other treats. But I didn't want to make him a "super superhero". That role is reserved for Venom and Carnage. Wolverine can be used in scenario based games to do what he does best: close-combat-fighting.

I didn't read the rulebook of Shadow War: Armageddon yet, but I expect you can use my Marvel adaptions in that game too. But I am afraid the point cost is a tad different... Wait and see.

More of the Uncanny X-Men in future blogposts. Stay tuned...

In my Marvelmunda blogpost series I'm am presenting game profiles to use Marvel HeroClix miniatures in Necromunda games. I'm playing/collecting/modifying Necromunda for about 20 years now. This experience allowed me to design my own algorithm to generate miniature profiles with a balanced points cost.

Many blogposts ago I presented my GI Joe adaption for Necromunda. Previously this month I released profiles for The Fantastic Four and Venom. Now I am proud to present you: CARNAGE! Pit him against the Fantastic Four or let him try and take on Venom in a titanic duel.

Carnage a.k.a. Cletus Kasady (1000 points/credits)

Leader

Equipment:
Mesh Armour
Icrotic Slime
Bio-Scanner
Blindsnake Pouch
Grav Chute
Grapnel
Chain Sword
Chain Sword
Massive Axe
Shotgun

Skills:
Infiltration
Sneak Up
Counter Attack
Leap
Feint
Body Slam
Disarm
Iron Jaw
Killer Reputation
Berserk Charge

This is my number one favorite villain fighting against The Amazing Spiderman. It's rather disappointing that the Carnage HeroClix miniature is rather dull...

A couple of weeks ago I posted some images of my High Elf reinforcements. The Phoenix Guard regiment included some plastic miniatures because I didn't have enough metal miniatures. Here's how I converted a cheap Spearman into a Phoenix Guard replacement.

You won't even notice him when the entire regiment is fielded on the table.

I made a banner bearer (not pictured) for the regiment in the same way. This way I have been able to upgrade my 12-strong metal regiment into a 15-strong Warmaster 28mm infantry unit!

To continue my Marvelmunda series I need a super heavy villain. One of my favorites from the Amazing Spiderman comics is Venom. He'll be a great opponent to use in arbitrated Necromunda scenarios. This mean fightingmachine is worth 1000 credits.

Venom a.k.a. Eddy Brock (1000 Credits)

Leader

Venom's "Equipment":
Icrotic Slime
Mesh Armour
Bio-Scanner
Grav Chute
Grapnel
Massive Club
Sword
Skull Chip
Web Pistol
Web Pistol Reload

Venom's Skills:
Infiltration
Sneak Up
Crushing Blow
Leap
Berserk Charge
Hurl Opponent
Disarm
Iron Jaw
Killer Reputation

There are many versions of the Venom miniature available from HeroClix. Pick one, re-base one, play one!

Targeting in Necromunda

Targetting

Here’s a new rule-plugin for Necromunda. This plugin doesn’t change existing rules much, it simply modifies existing well-known game mechanics. It slides in some minor extra rules. I named the plugin “targeting”.

The idea for this plugin stems from all those great first-person-shooter games like Counter-Strike for example. Experienced players are fast and accurate and will often go for a headshot in order to eliminate their opponents. This detail is missing in the shooting phase of Necromunda. Here’s my take on updating the shooting phase.

coffeecorncoffeecorncoffeecorncoffeecorncoffeecorncoffeecorncoffeecorncoffeecorncoffeecorncoffeecorncoffeecorn

Before rolling to hit when shooting, decide to make the regular to hit roll according to the standard rules OR choose for targeting roll.

When doing a targeting roll, pick your spot. Choose a visible part of the target’s body.
When choosing the head -> to hit modifier +2.
When choosing any other location of the body -> to hit modifier +1.

If you did a regular to hit roll then roll another 1D6 to see where the hit landed.
1- Torso
2- Left arm
3- Right arm
4- Left leg
5- Right leg
6- Head

The to wound roll is unchanged. Pinning rules are still in effect.

Injury rolls:
Each part of the body has its own injury roll, check the table below.
Torso: standard injury roll (rulebook) => 6=out of action, 5-3=down, 1-2=recover to fleshwound
Arm: 6-4=down, 3-1= recover to fleshwound
Leg: 6=out of action,5-2=down,1=recover to fleshwound and move -1 (for this game)
Head: 6-3=out of action, 2=down, 1=recover to fleshwound with initiative -1 and leadership -1 (for this game)

Playing with this Necromunda plugin doesn’t require much studying. Try it in your next skirmish and let me know how it went. Enjoy.
