Day 5: drybrush equipment and items.
All weapons received a coat of grey non-metal paint. Then I picked various small items to receive a drop of bone white. By doing this for all miniatures, I generated a coherent look and feel. They looked like a team, a squad, a Necromunda gang!
Day 6: drybrush second layer on equipment and items.
All weapons that were drybrushed grey the day before now receive a second coat with silver metalic. I tried to only paint the barrels and ammo clips.
Tomorrow I'll grow some grass on the bases and then this gang is ready for battle!
Miniature Games Construction Yard
In this blog I'll talk about various miniature games. Custom miniatures and minor conversions are my favorite pastime. I'll cover scenery making and painting too.
The WIP you'll see here is all about Necromunda, Epic 40,000, Warhammer Fantasy 5th Edition, Warmaster and Warhammer 40K 3rd Edition.

Day 3: Drybrush first layer.
Time for some color. I drybrushed all miniatures with dark brown to create a coherent look.
I really wanted to keep the color scheme simple with a small color palette: browns and greys.
Day 4: Drybrush second layer.
Snakebite and bronzed flesh on day 4. I drybrushed the light brown only to the lower regions of the miniature to simulate dirt. I dry painted all skin areas with bronzed flesh (pink).
I really tried to finish the skin at once. Not using too much paint. Because I did not have the time for washes and inks and second and third layers of skincolors.
Only 3 more days to finish the miniatures!

For my friend's birthday I wanted a special present. Something original. I went through my bits-box and found me a couple of spare miniatures. There were only 7 days left until his birthday, and I did NOT have time for my gaming-hobby. So I planned and executed the formation of this new gang for Necromunda in several steps. One step every day. It would only take +/- 15 minutes per day.
Day 1: Selection, glueing and basing.
I applied the glue with a paperclip and then placed the miniatures in a box. First layer on the base was sand with large particles. Second layer, to make it compact and strong, was applied with an old spoon. This second layer was fine sand.
Day 2: Undercoat.
I used a black undercoat because my plan was to drybrush all miniatures in order to save time.
Yes, my friend would have a Ratskin Scout in his gang!
I really like the way how the bases came out. Two layers of sand with a different size did the trick.

No gang without a leader. This also counts for the Scavvies.
Mad Scientist Dr. Igor is a Scavvy Boss with a Photo Visor. He's armed with Scare Gas Grenades, Photon Flash Flares and Smoke Bombs. One of his chemicals is a Blindsnake Pouch.
His Lab Assistant Olga is a Scavvy with Tox Bombs. - “The doctor needs lots of bodies, but he doesn’t always need all the parts. I get the other parts. Soon I’ll have enough to do an experiment of my own.”
I shortened this HorrorClix miniature to be more compatible with the 25mm range of Citadel Miniatures.
Scrubber Derrick is a Scavvy with a Scatter Gun and a Pocket full 'o nails. He's wearing a respirator. That's a wise thing to do when dealing with zombies and stuff... - "Headless zombies, vampire ash, werewolf droppings... When the supernatural makes a mess, I clean it up."
My Scavvy gang is now complete! (But still needs to be painted. I dread that...)

'Resident Evil' is one of my favorite movies. (Only the first movie, part 2, 3 and 4 stink.) So these dogs from HorrorClix and the old Citadel Miniatures MUST be in my Scavvies gang!
I still have some work on the bases.
The miniature above will become my Scaly. In the Necromunda: Outlanders rulebook, the Scalies are armed with massive weapons. I still have to find out what I'm going to do about that...

For those who own the Necromunda: Outlanders rulebook (or the hardcover version); following posts will showcase my custom miniatures for the Scavvies gang.
As usual I've cut up some HorrorClix figs to create my gang.
Zombie shuffle!
In order to create some variation, I removed some arms and heads from duplicate miniatures and swapped them around. I also repositionned the arm of the zombie Police so that it looks like he's reaching for his gun.
Tomorrow: Scavvy Dogs and Scalies!

The G.I. Joe Combat Jet Skystriker [XP-14F] was first released boxed in U.S. toy stores in 1983.
This fighter jet was one of the most iconic vehicles used by GI Joe. It appeared frequently in the cartoon series. Since I never had the toy, I'll now make me a 28mm version.
The purchase from eBay arrived by mail, and the Joe's started inspection immediatelly. You never know if Cobra sabotaged anything...
It is now clear that I'll have to buy me some cans of spraypaint. It's crazy to paint this with small paint pots.
But how to use airplanes and fighter jets in Necromunda? Well, in order to be able to use these magnificent scale models, I made up some houserules (www.tocoking.be/homerules).
Outside Assets
You can buy an asset between fights. Each asset can only be used once. If you want to use it more than once then you have to buy multiples. You can then use the asset at anytime during your turn. When using the asset, place the scale model on the table (just for fun and making great pictures). Remove the model when dice are rolled and results are applied.
Airstrike (100 credits) You may land a Missile of your choice anywhere on the table. Use the scatter dice. Do not use the scatter dice if the landing spot is in line of sight of one of your gang members in Overwatch status OR when you use your "Live Satellite Image" asset.
Napalm Strike (150 credits) Fire one Flamer shot from any top level on the table.
Live Satellite Image (100 credits) Remove all enemy Hidden counters and you may now reroll each single dice once during your turn.

I want vehicles for my GI Joe Necromunda team! There are a lot of useful military scale models out there. So I made a want-list:
Rattler: A10
Sky Sweeper Jet: F117 Stealth
Tomahawk: Sikorsky 53 or Super Puma
Dragonfly: Cobra Chopper
Warthog: Assault Amphibious Vehicle AAV-7A1 formerly known as LVTP-7
Skystriker: F14 Tomcat
AWE Striker: Desert Patrol Vehicle (DPV), formerly called the Fast Attack Vehicle (FAV) by Chenowth
The first vehicle I'll try to convert is Sgt. Slaughter's AMPHIBIOUS INFANTRY FIGHTING VEHICLE! The GI Joe Warthog A.I.F.V. was first released boxed in U.S. toy stores in 1988.
Beachhead is inspecting the hull for irregularities...
Now it's going to be my 28mm miniature wargames transporter! Rules can be made up with the 'Necromunda Ash Wastes Nomads - Vehicles' PDF.
Let the glue flow! But I must admit I get demoralized when I see all the separate parts that will make the tank's treads...

Jurassic Park inspired me to paint some vicious predators. They'll be used in Necromunda arbitrator scenario's.
I went for an exotic color scheme. Scientists don't know how the dino's looked anyway. Beige belly, orange back and blue stripes.

Today: an expansion for my "Necromunda Solo" post.
Elite Profession Skills
Elite Profession Skills follow the same rules as Hive Ken Skills (by Lachlan Abrahams). The Elite Profession Skills represent gangers who develop special professions in their territory.
If any ganger rolls the ‘Choose any of the Skill tables’ result on the advance table he may select to roll on any of the profession tables instead. Models learning from the profession skills must miss the next fight whilst they are finding a tutor to teach them the skill.
Redemtionists and Spyrers may not select these profession skills.
Elite Profession Skill Table

12 Choose one profession from any Skill Table
11 Choose one profession from this Skill Table
10 Rogue Pilot
9 Tenchu
8 Engineer
7 Cook
6 Surgeon
1-5 Failure
Failure
The ganger fails to find a tutor or is not accepted by the teacher. The ganger may fight in the next battle but cannot forage, collect income from territories or search for rare items now.
Tenchu
The ganger is taking special training to become a stealth assassin. He is introduced in the ways of the ancient shadow warriors known as Tenchu. The Tenchu profession comes in several levels.
A new initiate starts at stealth level 2. A ganger with the Tenchu profession has an amount of Blip tokens equal to his stealth level.
If your Tenchu miniature is Hiding, then you may replace it with Blip tokens. (The amount of Blip tokens depends on the level of the Tenchu.) During following turns, move all the Blip tokens. Use rules for hidden miniatures for the Blip tokens.
Blip tokens come in colour series to indicate different miniatures who are using Tenchu stealth moves. (A different color for each miniature.) Each series consist of duplicates numbered 1 to 5. Always choose one Blip token as an indicator of your miniature's real location, put the unused Blip tokens aside, but do not allow anyone to look at them.
Between fights, a miniature with the Tenchu profession may increase his stealth level by 1 up to a maximum of 5. This miniature may not forage, collect income from territories or search for rare items during this advanced training.
The other professions can be found on my website toco.be/homerules .
PS: A Tenchu could use the rules for 'night-fighting' from Necromunda: Battles in the Underhive to his advantage...
