Miniature Games Construction Yard

In this blog I'll talk about various miniature games. Custom miniatures and minor conversions are my favorite pastime. I'll cover scenery making and painting too. The WIP you'll see here is all about Necromunda, Epic 40,000, Warhammer Fantasy 5th Edition, Warmaster and Warhammer 40K 3rd Edition.

THE iconic centrepiece of the Squat army must be the Land Train. I had some parts that needed repairs. The train needed tracks, so I added some from WW2 miniatures. With cardboard I made a shovel and some extra plastic was added for details.

The Berserker Battlecar wagon was made by adding a plastic Rhino hull on top. Paint will cover all inadequacies.

Basing my Warhammer Epic 40,000 core Squat troopers:

Regular brethren (2 Squats, 3 Ratlings) to the left, Veterans (5 Squats) in the middle.

On the right side you see how I have to recycle my second hand miniatures.

Addicted to the smell of plastic cement glue, I started making some Squat units too. Thse space Dwarves are incredibly cool and I don't understand GW doesn't support them anymore.

Following picture is showing one of my Eldar Scouts (or Ranger) bases. I replaced one miniature with ruins scenery to create some variation (and to win some extra units by not using 5 per base).

Because the Squats are very expensive on eBay, I had to come up with a solution to make as many units as possible, with few miniatures. Because I don't like Ratling Snipers (I use Catachans instead), I merged them with regular Squats.

(I am making these for Warhammer Epic 40,000 but they're also great for Space Marine.)

I glued 2 Vampire Raiders. Please note the rear stabilizers. I did not use the vertical supports. It was hell to glue them and the result was very fragile. So I decided to not use them. Once painted, no-one will notice.

The Wraithguard bases only have 4 miniatures each. This way I can field more units. (5's too much for one base anyway...)

The Avatar in front will be glued on one of the old square bases. I'll use another Avatar miniature I own (with spear) for a converted Exodite army...

For the Eldar Titans I am converting 3 MechWarrior models. I removed the "clix" base and used a very sharp and small screw to attach the most dynamic miniature to the base.

To prevent the white Titan from toppling over, I added small slabs of lead to the base. Then I covered those in sand and glue and finished it with plaster.

Following two miniatures will become my Eldar Phantom and Warlock Titans.

(Miniatures are from: Mechwarrior: Dark Age.)

Warhammer Epic 40,000:

First army finally got glued: Eldar. I gathered some units on eBay and played around with unit configurations to get as many playable units out of it as possible.

I only had one vintage Eldar with Banner, so he went on the Commander base. To the right are expensive Wraithguards. I glued only 4 to each base, because I didn't have enough unbroken figs.

The Fire Dragons in front have an Exarch which will be painted in the same colors as the regular Aspect Warriors.

To have extra Scouts (Rangers) I swapped one miniature per base with a piece of the ruins sprue.

The old Guardians were the cheapest on eBay, so they are my core troopers.
