This is the blog formally known as GamesByRich.com:Classic Games Redefined blog. It focuses the thoughts of the design process of Rich Hutnik and other things Rich, gaming related (pretty much), finds interesting. It has been changed to reflect a clear focus in regards to what is being worked on, and also in relation to the new name for the YouTube channel.

I discussed prior the idea of doing a dice version of Barbu. I was thinking of taking it further and coming up with a dice game system, which would also be able to replace cards with dice.

Input is wleocme. If this takes off, then I could have WWB dice out there, for anyone who wants them.

Please discuss it here:

I am working on more trick-taking dice games, and maybe dragging Barbu in.

So, recently I decided to dust off my game Hi-Low Jambow, which is a combinatorial trick-taking dice game. I did another called "Duplicate Heartless".

Well, there was utter confusion regarding having the mix of two color dice, and having one die be suit, and another one being the value (like the way 42 works). As a result, I went back to the drawing board for some designs, and the hope to have something, or a series of them. I will need to play more, but I found at least one was interesting enough solitaire. It is much more luck driven than the other ones I did, but I found that it was interesting, particularly when I added a value on the die that was toxic (player who wins the most of that value scores no points for a hand).

Anyhow, I press on. Will see how it goes. Now, if I can only end up coming up with something commercially viable.

New move type added to J

I decided to update the rules to J with a new variant to try out.

You can see it here:
https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1817347/free-placement-move...

And here:
Additional Mandatory move type, Free placement: For players who want to do a freer placement in the game, for more dynamic play, it is suggested the following move type be allowed during the mandatory move phase of a turn during the game. In this, a player can place a piece on ANY of the 32 spaces on the board, that is doesn't contain a piece, at the time of placing. Doing this doesn't push pieces. This is an additional move type besides the slide entering of pieces on the outside of the board. Players either do free placement or slide move during their mandatory move type during a turn, not both. The restrictions for removing a piece are still in effect, where a player is not permitted to remove a piece that is in the same row or column as the piece just entered, during optional removal phase during a turn. It is suggested players play the game a few times without this rule, to feel how the basic flow works, before trying it with this rule.

The short, instead of just a slide move from the outside of the board, players have an optional free placement on an empty space on the board. They can also perform a slide move.

Just a head's up here. Please stay in touch here for details. I am currently going to redo the post, as it got deleted. Main thing is that games were moved to another part of Mid-Hudson area of NY. Please contact harrytheodore on here via Geekmail about info on the game.

I am not able to post on here about the games, or if I do, BGG gets 3% of all sales revenue for games I am giving away to sold for charity. Anyhow, my games went.

Edit:
The games have been moved to a place in Putnam County at this time. Send me Geekmail and I will get you the Geekmail contact for them.

EDIT: The games in Albany are gone. The games near Poughkeepsie remain.

I am faced with a reality of a loss of storage space, and games that aren't being used. My landlord is taking away a storage closet I was using. So, rather than give up space for game bits so I can continue to design, I am giving up games. If anyone wants them, please send me some Geekmail. I can give you contact info, so you can contact me off here, and I can give you where I am so they can be picked up. Any games not claimed will be going to Good Will. I want them to go in the hands of people to use them, not some retailer to make a profit. I would be up for them to be auctioned off for a worthy charity, which is why I am looking at Good Will.

Anyhow, send me Geekmail off here, so we can arrange a day and time to pick them up. I have a week or so to get them to go, or they are off to Good Will.

Life isn't working for me. I am thinking of withdrawing for about everything, deleting things, and getting on with my non-life. I am currently battling depression issues, and no one cares. No one can seem to help at all. Now it is time for me to get to sleep so I can be up in the morning. I am not sure what is next, but I am not sure who cares.

Bye...

I discuss Atari 2600 Pac-Man in this video, and why it is considered "worst game ever". I don't believe it is.

Anyhow, here is the video:

By the way, you can play the Atari 2600 version of Pac-Man here:

So, I decided to try some remixes of Guile's Theme with several songs that have gone viral, and got very mixed results. I will let you judge for yourself.

Here is one attempt with Shooting Stars:

This is another one with some Smooth McGroove (seems better):

This one is Guile's Theme with We're Number 1:
