Miniature Games Construction Yard
In this blog I'll talk about various miniature games. Custom miniatures and minor conversions are my favorite pastime. I'll cover scenery making and painting too.
The WIP you'll see here is all about Necromunda, Epic 40,000, Warhammer Fantasy 5th Edition, Warmaster and Warhammer 40K 3rd Edition.

This miniature was originally not intented to join my GI Joe Necromunda gang. It's one of my Warhammer 40K Catachan Spec Ops team members.
However, the resemblance is striking. Orange beard, white shirt.
Maybe he would be even more recognizable as the Joe Outback if I slapped a brown backpack on his back...

Here are the NM stats I'm using for the Cobra miniatures I discussed in previous blogposts.
Stats for Wraith are included. And you didn't see a blogpost about him yet... Well that's normal... You can't see Wraith, can you? (Just kidding, will be using HeroClix's "The Grid" miniature. And new rules for his stealth suit can be found here (Crysis Nanosuit).
Crysis Nanosuit for Necromunda! Check it out!
New Skill:
Agility - Swim: No movement penalties in water.
New Scenery Feature:
Water: A jump into water reduces the height of a fall with 3 inch (regarding falling damage). While swimming, a miniature cannot Run and cannot Shoot. It can throw grenades or perform Hand-To-Hand combat.Name

One of THE biggest reasons I visit board- and wargame conventions like CRISIS in Antwerp (Belgium) is second-hand shops. Private sellers trying to ditch their excess miniatures from their collections.
Look what I found! Second, third and fourth edition Blood Bowl (Second Edition) (star)players. "Boomer Eziasson", "Grim Ironjaw", "Bilerot Vomitflesh", "Wormhowl Grayscar" and many others. Yes, even a Chaos Dwarf. and now the best part: 2,- Euro each
And for those of us with sufficient age to have seen these blisters in the (FLG)Shops when they were new releases: vintage Necromunda goodies! With fair prices.

Snake-Eyes' pupil Kamakura, another Arashikage ninja for my GI Joe Necromunda Gang.
I tried to get the tone of his blue balaclava right, because that's what differentiates him and makes him recognizable.
Painting his hair was easy. White basecoat. Chestnut inkwash (GW).
The metal miniature is from i-Kore, from their discontinued game Void.

Dial-tone, one of my favorite Joe's when I was a kid. Dunno why exactly. I can only remember my little sister breaking off the microphone from his backpack. I was really upset. Oow, the worries of a kid...
The green tint really matches his toy counterpart. Wait… this 28mm miniature is a toy too actually…
Ssst... keep that a secret... it's not a toy, it's an important part of a simulation tabletop game!
I wanted his backpack and gun in a grey tone because the toy had grey accessoires too. Worked out just fine me-thinks.

Next G.I. Joe character in line for a conversion into a 28mm miniature for my Necromunda games is Shipwreck. This funny person has seen some variations in style. The cartoon version didn't exactly match his comic version, but both were fine.
The comic version had long hair and a cap.
The cartoon (and toy figure) version was wearing a sailors hat and his typical lightblue shirt. And offcourse, his parrot Polly!
When I bought the Marvel HeroClix miniature Luke Cage to use the brick under his feet for the Deadnock Road Pig, I was left with the actual miniature itself. The cap reminded me of the comic version of Shipwreck. So I decided to make a blend of both versions of the Shipwreck character.
For the parrot I have used the top part of a Bretonnian Knight from Warhammer Fantasy Battles. The Wings are from a BattleMasters mounted knight's helmet.

General Rey might not be a well known G.I. Joe. But I really like how this character developed in the comic series from Devil's Due and Image. I will not add a spoiler here as to what's his background, but it's BIG news!
His armour made me think of Imperial Guard armour from 40K. So the choice for a miniature to represent him in my 28mm Necromunda skirmishes was easy.
The stub gun comes from an Original plastic Necromunda Orlock.
The binoculars are just there because I did not have another left arm in my bits box ... But it suits him well, being a leader.

The advertisement picture above is from a Belgian G.I. Joe brochure depicting the famous Stormshadow and the popular, but slightly bizar Croc Master. This diorama never left my mind ever since first seeing it in 1991.
So here they are in 28mm version! The famous 80's ninja Stormshadow and the odd GI Joe samurai Budo.
Both are repainted HeroClix miniatures, with a new arm for Stormshadow. The bow-arm originates from a Warhammer Wood Elf.
Now I heard rumours that WizKids has acquired the license to produce GI Joe miniatures. So here's hoping they will publish official GI Joe HeroClix soon. It will render my custom work obsolete... but it has been cool so far.
