Miniature Games Construction Yard

In this blog I'll talk about various miniature games. Custom miniatures and minor conversions are my favorite pastime. I'll cover scenery making and painting too. The WIP you'll see here is all about Necromunda, Epic 40,000, Warhammer Fantasy 5th Edition, Warmaster and Warhammer 40K 3rd Edition.

My yearly visit to CRISIS (a wargames convention in Belgium) is a highlight of the year. The amount of wonderful demo tables is just fantastic! All important traders are there and there are lot of second hand gaming meterials to buy. Can't wait for 2019's edition. "After CRISIS is before CRISIS!"

Following images did not capture the grandure of this demo table. It was HUUUUuuuge. I guess around 10 meters long. Filled with fully painted Warhammer Fantasy miniatures and alternatives. Great to gaze upon. Surely a beautiful sight to behold.
(For those who couldn't make it to CRISIS 2017, you'll have to find a professional photographer who took pictures of this table to truly see how cool this was, because the camera from my mobile phone was unable to capture this immense scenery.)

I recently discovered there was another game like Mordheim and Legends of the Old West. This was a shock for me! Liking both previous titles very much, it was great to see another skirmish game with ties to Games Workshop.

PIRATES! How cool's that! arrrh

I was very lucky to find a rulebook for a descent price. This skirmish game tends to be rare. It's written by Tim Kulinksi (a very friendly person btw) in 2008.

This game can easily be played in the 1/72 scale. This has a huge advantage: low cost. Generally all 1/72 plastic soldiers/miniatures are very cheap compared to the 28mm miniatures business.

The miniatures I bought are from Orion.

Some months ago I started collecting various 1/72 scale Micro Machines Star Wars characters.

I was inspired to do this by

Now work has begun to make my own episode VI armies:

The metal bases were very cheap. Only 0,01 or 0,02 Euro each!

The last two Stormtroopers were siamese twins I had to cut apart with a sharp knife. Operation succeeded succesful!

Some sand on the bases and paint-repairs and I'm finished.

Legends of the Old West is a wonderful skirmish game.
It combines all the goodness from Necromunda and LotR Skirmish games into one fine Wild West miniatures game.

And the greatest thing is: the miniatures are cheap. IF you're using cowboys and indians in the scale 1:72.

Converting miniatures is difficult, because they are made from soft plastics. But it works. And paint will bring coherency.

Another great plus for gaming in the 1/72 scale is that you don't need a huge table surface. And IF you should still use large tables, then you have more room for scenery. So, I really dig this 1/72 scale!
