I still have a few minis from Imperial Assault that I haven't painted. It has been a while since I've gone back to the place I started painting again. She completes the Jabba's Realm expansion.
I ended up a little darker on the skin tones but liked the effect so I didn't go farther with highlights. I tried a little purple glaze on the armor to mimic the art with mixed results. Overall, she's not my best work, but I finished her just the same.
As always I'll add this to my master IA mini list HERE.
Don't Play Gray!
A place for me to post about my miniature painting habit! I've rediscoved the hobby after a 20+ year hiatus and am learning all over again.

Star Wars Imperial Assault: CT-1701

It has been ages since I painted a Star Wars Imperial Assault mini! I have the entire collection but still have a couple that I haven't painted. At this point I just throw them in if the color scheme matches something else I'm painting. Here is the crusty clone trooper CT-1701, one of the playable characters from the Tyrants of Lothal expansion (the final boxed expansion for the sadly defunct game. I thought about trying to paint for Star Wars Legion, but the fact that they changed scale on the minis made me not want to repaint a ton of storm troopers, etc.
I went pretty basic on this guy, following the art as close as possible. White armor is tough! I primed him in white to make this easier. I painted the creases in armor with Vallejo German Gray, then cleaned up edges with white. I then did a light wash (Vallejo Model Wash Gray) mixed with some Lahmian medium over the whole mini. I wiped off wash from much of the armor before it dried. I didn't use Nuln Oil since it has a bit of brown tone to it. I then went back over the armor with a few layers of white. This reminded me how much I hated painting the storm troopers!
As usual I'll add this to my fairly inactive IA mini list HERE.

Look, I do still have a few Imperial Assault minis left to paint! Now that the game is well and truly dead, I better get to work right? This is the first game I started painting so it feels kind of cool to go back to it. I've got a few more left waiting their turn...
I've actually had Loku primed and ready to paint for something like 2 years. Not sure why he got forgotten in my tub of "to be painted" minis for so long. With a recent bunch of green/olive drab minis, I figured his color scheme was close enough and rescued him from obscurity.
As I had originally planned ages ago, I followed Sorastro's Youtube tutorial on this one, and really like how the mottled skin turned out. I suggest checking out that video for in depth details. I especially like how the dirty trail-used coat looks.
As usual I'll add this to my master IA mini list HERE.

I'm feeling stressed out today as I just discovered my mother has tested positive for COVID. I'm staring at my computer and can't focus on work. As a result, I'm posting another set of minis today just to give me something to do.
This was one of first expansions for Imperial Assualt: The wookie warriors ally pack. I did not (and still don't) love the sculpts on these guys, so it took me a long time to buy them. Knowing the game is dead in the water though, I decided to buy all the remaining packs before they go the way of the Descent minis I had yet to buy.
I painted these with the same color schemes and techniques as with the wolf familiars I posted recently for Zombicide Green Horde. When doing one major color or technique, I always try to find other minis that fit the same technique. This time it was just too easy!
These were both done with a wet blend of darker gray or brown with 2 lighter shades for the more raised areas of the mini. Once dry I did some drybrushing with a very light shade (light gray and buff). Again, once dry I did a wash with Nuln on the gray one and Agrax on the brown. I did a little highlighting, especially on hands and faces.
As usual I'll link this to my rapidly filling IA mini list HERE.

And yet another of the illustrious crew of The Ghost: Zeb Orrelios for Star Wars Imperial Assault. I'm a big fan of the animated Rebels series, so am happy to painting my way through these guys. Zeb is by far my favorite character from the series.
I really liked Sorastro's version of Zeb and followed his Patreon PDF guide for my color choices. Really happy with the eyes!
As usual I'll add this to my IA mini list HERE.

I'm still not quite done with Imperial Assault, but getting closer. I'm slowly working on the crew from Rebels. If you haven't watched the show, it is well worth the time...but give it a few episodes to get into it. This is Hera, pilot of The Ghost and the conscience of the team.
I'm pretty happy with both with the model and my paint job. I struggled a bit with the freehand designs on the head tails, but I think they look OK. The yellows were done with a desaturated (added a little black) base color, then working up to a more bright tone.

Here is Jerrod Kelvin, a playable hero from the Star Wars Imperial Assault Heart of the Empire expansion.
Kind of sad there isn't a Jax mini to go with this. Jerrod is not my favorite mini for the set: he has odd blocky features and there isn't a lot of differentiation of the parts of his hand-blades. I wasn't going to paint him at all, but I was painting a bunch of other minis with orange as the primary color and threw him into the mix. I might have a disorder, but this is how I choose what to paint next. I went along with the art as much as I could, but struggled a bit with the hand blades and forarms. On the positive, I'm getting closer to completing the Imperial Assault sets.
As usual I'll post him with my master IA mini list HERE.

I've saved this gem from the Imperial Assault Jabba's Realm expansion for a long time. I just wanted to feel more comfortable with painting such a large mini before I jumped in, and then he sort of fell off my radar. I had to do a fair amount of trimming and gap filling with green stuff since there are some pretty hefty gaps on this one.
I had plans to use my new airbrush, but ended up going along with brush method according to Sorastro's tutorial. I like how his looks, and took inspiration by his swamp basing as well. I suggest you check out the Youtube video if you want in depth details as I followed this pretty closely. This guy did take a while with all the wet blend, washes, and multiple layers on the base, so I worked on him at the same time as several Batman Suicide Squad minis.
Pretty happy with how the base turned out. I threw a couple skulls from the Citadel big box-o-skulls into the mix.
I love the UHU glue trick for saliva! I also added a little Nurgle's Rot paint from the nose to add a green mucus. I did a 'Ardcoat gloss finish to the mouth and nose as well to make it look wet.
As usual I'll link this guy to my master IA mini list HERE(which is nearly complete these days since they are no longer putting out minis for it.)

I'm still trucking away at my Imperial Assault minis, maybe slowing down since I know when I finish them there are no new ones coming. I've thought about starting Star Wars Legion, but I really don't like playing skirmish style games much. And some of the minis are doubled up from IA and I don't really want to paint them again. Onar is a hero from the Jabba's Realm expansion.
I followed the character art pretty close on this one. My biggest issue was the orange...as always. I had done a zenithal highlight on priming, but there was enough gray still present (especially the lower areas of his outifit) that it took many layers of desaturated Trollslayer Orange to make it look OK. For future reference, I will paint these types of areas white first, then it should take less layers.
As usual I'll add this to my master IA mini list HERE.

Look who I discovered hiding in a box of Descent minis! Dengar the bounty hunter from Imperial Assault for your viewing pleasure.
He looks complicated but overall is only a couple of colors. The hardest part was the semi-metallic armor. This was a mix of brown and bronze Citadel paints with a couple of diluted sepia/Agrax washes over top to even out the highlights.
As usual I'll link this to my master IA mini list HERE.
