New York - Here it is: NaNoNeGaMo 2022 - take the pledge! (an annual celebration of the old)
But now I will tell the lineage and the names of the heroes, and of the long sea-paths and the deeds
Just another bgg blog about playing games.

I've made a lot of geeklists lately (meaning the last two weeks since the last time I posted about making geeklists).
Here they are:
Trawlerman's 10 Favorite Trick-Taking Games (Excluding Climbing/Shedding Games) 2021 Edition
25 more 2s >2000 (A Deep Cat's Couples' Cuts)
Riffle Shuffle & Roll: New Games - Rooted in Tradition
Trawlerman's 2021 Trick-Taker Watchlist
Trawlerman's Top 20 for Two - 2021 Edition (w/ music too)

I've recently created and posted two geeklists.
The first one is "celebrating" my h-index reaching 25.
My H-Index is 25 Don't I Get a Party or Something?
The second one is another foolish attempt at identifying all-time favorites, this time an "Only 25" list.
Only 25 (unflashy great games I play repeatedly over the years)
Check them out.
What about you?
How much overlap is there between your "most played" and "want to play the most" lists?

I started my own BGG blog on October 1st, 2018.
I had discovered BGG blogs the previous year.
Alongside guilds, blogs are my favorite feature on BGG.
Here's a list of the blogs that I'm subscribed to. If you're reading this blog and you're not reading these others, well, you should be! Check them out now.

Because it's never too early to start thinking about how to do it better next year.

I don't think I'm even going to attempt any other 10x10 or 5x5 or whatever. I never seem to be able to stick to them.
I'm still getting rid of games at a decent clip. I'm definitely on target for sticking to my previously blogged about Crates Challenge, which rules still apply to next year's spending and continued culling. The most important rule that I'm so glad that I've adopted is the commitment to play anything new within 2 weeks of obtaining it. This should have been my personal policy for the past 15 years.
I'm going to buy a few games and books in the next week, then plan on no spending at all in December, followed by adopting the above budget approach starting 1/1/21.

Peer pressure is a thing. I made a geeklist because someone else did.

I think the list may be more about BGG than it is about me.
The geeklist could be titled, "Many games I haven't played in ten years yet somehow my few plays have not been surpassed in the intervening years."
Enjoy.

(I'm shamelessly stealing this "heads up" feature from Mat's Progresiv Gaming blog.)
I spent several hours putting together a "Meta Geeklist" listing all other geeklists related to Reiner Knizia. I did this for myself, because after the recent flurry of Knizia Top 10s I was interested in the Knizia lists of the past, but I also mainly did it for others, to provide a convenient list for others so that they wouldn't have to hunt down the old lists as I did.
There is a lot of good content here on BGG that gets buried by newer content. Cult of the New applies to new BGG threads and new BGG lists as much as new games. It's good to turn back and see some of the really great contributions from the past. And why not comment on a list that hasn't seen activity in ten years?
But it wasn't until after I put the metalist out there that I realized that a geeklist linking to other geeklists will not alert anyone subscribed to games notifications. Someone who would normally see a list with Tigris & Euphrates on it would not see this list because T&E isn't actually listed on it, despite T&E photos showing up in quite a few of the listings.
So, I'm featuring the list here because here I can tag many of Knizia's games, alerting others to the existence of the list. I'm not doing this to grab thumbs or praise or whatever. I'm only trying to get the attention of other Knizia fans because I honestly think that the list will be of interest. I hope it is both useful and pleasurable for you.
