Yay, got to play both new Dixit games this afternoon!
Dixit: Journey is basically the same game as the original Dixit, but with brand new art and an improved scoreboard:
In addition to clear instructions to make it easier for those found scoring confusing before, the board also comes with a numbered guide for placing player cards for voting.
Again, thanks to Joel Gagnon from Asmodee for teaching the game:
The artist is Xavier Collette - GORGEOUS work. Here's a sample:
My fellow players: Donna Balkan, Carlos Hernandez, Pierre Poissant-Marquis (also from Asmodee) and Joel. Carlos had to leave at this point, but the rest of us went on to play Dixit Jinx.
It's a shorter and more intense version of Dixit -- fun, but I still prefer the original. Those who find the original Dixit too slow-paced, however, should definitely check it out. I can also see this as a good travel game (takes up less room than the original Dixit).
Games discussed above:
Dixit: Journey
Dixit Jinx

Jeff (Bad Kangaroo)'s been gaming all week. I've been doing some work but am going to be doing more gaming today and tomorrow. Not being a night person, I can't resist the lure of DAYTIME GAMING.
Many thanks to my friend Errol Elumir (Errol) for the Tichu lesson yesterday; I'm starting to play this on my iPad after a recommendation from Matthew Monin (Octavian). One of my goals: to learn Tichu well enough to play a beginners' game at BGG.con next year.
I have the basics but I have a long way to go in terms of learning strategy.
Anyway, I also played Quarriors! twice yesterday as well as King Of Tokyo. Enjoyed both but especially liked King Of Tokyo -- fun party game with amusing graphics and theme (my monster was the Cyber Bunny).
Jeff doesn't blog, but his most recent Facebook update gives you an idea of the games played in The Basement (gaming headquarters of Wexford Underground) so far:
"Holiday gaming days -- 2 down, 2 to go. Played so far (not all by me): Mare Nostrum, Core Worlds, War of the Ring, Stronghold, 7 Wonders, Dominant Species, Maria, Eclipse, Tichu, King of Tokyo, Quarriors, Hannibal: Rome vs. Carthage, Twilight Struggle, and ASL."
