There will be an Online Charity Auction on the Goodman Games Twitch Channel for DCC community stalwart Aaron Koelman on Friday, July 8. Quote:Aaron’s friend and auction organizer Jim Kitchen tells us more:Thanks to Steve Donohue for bringing this to my attention.
One of the first things that you notice about the Dungeon Crawl Classics Community is that it is exactly that: a community. What binds us together is a love for DCC and fellowship for other players. It’s one of the hallmarks of the game and one of the reasons the community has been so robust. One of the earliest members of our DCC family, and one of the most stalwart, is Aaron Koelman. Aaron was there before DCC truly came together and had long been a patron of DCC artist Doug Kovacs. If you’ve been to Gen Con or Gary Con you may have sat next to this towering Viking from Minnesota and rolled some dice with him.
Recently Aaron disclosed that he has been fighting Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer for most of the last year. Aaron has several rounds of chemotherapy behind him and while continuing to move forward recognizes that, as is often the case with this form of cancer, the odds are a bit long. With a six-year-old son, this last part has been weighing on him greatly.
We will be holding a charity auction to benefit Aaron’s ongoing fight with Pancreatic Cancer on July 8th on the Goodman Games Twitch Channel. Members of the DCC community are donating rare, one-of-a-kind items including adventures, artwork, and other items which will all be auctioned off. Money raised will be sent to Aaron under the auspices of establishing an education account for his son. In organizing this event the response from those who know Aaron has been tremendous, an indication of what high esteem we hold him in.
I should be clear that this event is being organized by friends of Aaron, and it is not an official event sponsored by Goodman Games. Joseph has been kind enough to donate the time for the event on the Goodman Games Twitch channel and we can’t thank him enough.

At D&D Celebration 2021, WotC announced that they've been working on a "New Evolution" of the Core Books scheduled for release in 2024 for the 50th Anniversary of D&D.
Details are sparse, but they've said this "New Evolution" would be backwards compatible with Dungeons & Dragons (5th Edition). Some are calling it D&D 5.5.
This has been widely reported this morning. I first saw it here: https://www.belloflostsouls.net/2021/09/wotc-announces-new-e...
I'm sure no one has any thoughts, right?

It's release day for us here at Osprey Games as we launch our latest roleplaying game Sigil & Shadow. Game Masters, prepare yourselves as this one isn't for the fainthearted!
Sigil & Shadow
by R. E. Davis
Sigil & Shadow is a roleplaying game of urban fantasy and occult horror in which players take on the roles of illuminated heroes and shadowed monsters to face the rising tide of supernatural forces.
Powered by the highly accessible d00Lite system, Sigil & Shadow focuses squarely on the story rather than the mechanics – who the characters are and what they do, not how they do it.
Do you take a stand against the encroaching shadows? Or do you seek their power for yourself?
Are you ready to uncover the mysteries of Sigil & Shadow? Learn more about the game from the author himself over on the Osprey Games Blog.

* Rich mythology of the creation of vampires, usable as an in-game prop, clues and Story motivation for players, or as Storyteller inspiration
* A perfect companion to Sabbat: The Black Hand for your 5th Edition Vampire: The Masquerade game
* Loaded with legacy art from the original printing.
Image not yet final! Contents not yet final! The Book of Nod Deluxe Artifact Edition will arrive in a wooden crate, which will contain artifacts including:

* Information on the fires rising against the world’s vampires, stoked by the Society of St. Leopold and the American FIRSTLIGHT black program
New tools to expand your chronicles, including eldritch Artifacts, dozens of dangerous antagonists, and the tactics your coterie can use to fight back.

The World of Darkness coming to the premier digital tabletop platform
SAN DIEGO, California, June 10th, 2021 – Renegade Game Studios is proud to announce an expanded partnership with Roll20, beginning with the release of Paradox Interactive’s Vampire: The Masquerade 5th Edition Roleplaying Game on the Roll20 platform.
Roll20 is the all-in-one solution for organizing and playing tabletop games online. The virtual tabletop contains a variety of communication tools including chat, voice and video. The flexible toolset and extensive Marketplace offerings allow you to play your tabletop games, your way.
The Roll20 release of Vampire: The Masquerade 5th Edition Core Rulebook will feature all book assets, lore, and information fully integrated for the VTT, ready for you and your coterie to sink their fangs into on day one. This includes loresheets, player token packs, in-world lore articles that can be dragged into your game, and any storyteller characters, Predator Types, Advantages, and Disciplines with in-app drag-and-drop support.
In the Vampire: The Masquerade 5th Edition RPG tabletop game, you are a vampire, struggling for survival, supremacy, and your own fading humanity—afraid of what you are capable of, and fearful of the inhuman conspiracies that surround you. As a vampire, you suffer the pangs of the Hunger, the relentless and terrible thirst for human blood, but it is vital that you keep up the Masquerade: no humans can ever know that vampires actually exist.
The story you weave with the help of other players and your Storyteller will challenge your character to navigate through their unlife - walking the razor's edge between your lost humanity and the dangers of the Hunger that brings out the monster inside you, all while contending with political and social encounters and avoiding threats that are out to destroy you. This is the original and ultimate roleplaying game of personal and political horror.
“Our team is very excited to bring Vampire: The Masquerade to Roll20. With the Roll20 release of the Core Rulebook, as well as the Anarch and Camarilla Sourcebooks, players will finally be able to integrate the rules and lore of one of our site's most-played systems directly into the Roll20 VTT. At launch, players can enjoy features such as lore handouts, tokens and art packs for players and storyteller characters, and character sheet integration including drag-and-drop for storyteller characters, Predator Types, Advantages, and Disciplines. Experienced Storytellers will be delighted to search for what they need and share it more efficiently, while new players will be able to dive into the World of Darkness in a way that's approachable and easy to navigate. Get ready to sink your fangs into the fifth edition of Vampire: The Masquerade!” explains Emily Floyd, Director Licensing at Roll20.

Risus: The Anything RPG has been put up for sale by creator S. John Ross. No, not copies of the RPG, but the entire library, copyrights, trademarks, and digital assets are available. Details are in the link below.
It's one of the few times that I can remember this happening in the RPG world. Ross wants Risus to grow but says he isn't the person to do that. "Plus, my wife and I need the cash."
Thanks to Steffan O'Sullivan for the tip!
UPDATE! Another thanks to Steffan for the heads up.Quote:Dave LeCompte, of Big Dice Games, has purchased the Risus RPG line from S. John Ross of Cumberland Games and Diversions.
S. John Ross designed, authored, and published the groundbreaking roleplaying game system, subtitled “The Anything RPG,” in a time where individual role playing manuals were hundreds of pages, and a well-prepared gaming group would have dozens of books. Risus is a different sort of game system, with a set of rules that can fit on a single sheet of paper.
Dave LeCompte has been a friend of Risus for years, and looks forward to carrying it forward as a game where there’s “No Wrong Way to Play!”
Big Dice Games has agreed to complete the outstanding Kickstarter campaign to publish more free adventures, and intends to publish all-new Risus worldbooks as well.
S. John, who has shepherded his creation for 28 years, has overseen its changes from a plain-jane document of the early 90s to a stick-figure festooned one in the 21st century, is proud to see Big Dice Games carrying the torch forward to see the Risus line expand to include entire worlds, more adventures, and more voices from around the world. The Risus community has always been international (the game has been translated into 18 languages besides S. John’s attempts at English), and S. John hopes to see something from everyone. He’s also happy he won’t have to edit them.
Dave LeCompte notes: “S. John is one of those creators who do so many things well, it will require many people to fill his shoes. Big Dice Games welcomes the best stick figure art submissions, as well as writing submissions from adventure- and worldbook-authors to provide a breadth of perspectives while staying true to the open-hearted, creative gameplay that Risus gamers expect.” Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for freelancing opportunities.
The Risus library will continue to be available at DriveThruRPG, with all previous customers transferred painlessly behind the scenes thanks to the efforts of the OBS management. Risus will soon have a new home on the Web as well, at www.RisusRPG.com

Benji here from Osprey Games (purveyors of some of the finest RPGs that the hobby has to offer). We are incredibly close to the release of our new roleplaying game from John-Matthew DeFoggi; Jackals: Bronze Age Fantasy Roleplaying. Publishing next week on May 27th, it is the follow-up to the successful Jackals: Bronze Age Fantasy Roleplaying which came out earlier this year. With its unique setting and beautiful artwork, it’s a fantasy RPG like to no other.
I’m excited to be sharing the release of the game with the public next week, but before they get their hands on it I’m reaching out to the most important and well-spoken voices in the RPG industry for their thoughts!
If you’d be interested, I love to send you over a pdf copy of both Jackals and Jackals: The Fall of the Children of Bronze to get you started. I also now have review copies available, so once you’ve get yourself hooked in the world of bronze age roleplaying, I can send you over a hardback copy to uncover its ancient secrets for yourself.
The creator J-M DeFoggi has crafted a densely-woven world that I can’t wait for you to explore. The epic campaign spans 14 adventures, uncovering some of the setting’s greatest secrets. Jackals: The Fall of the Children of Bronze, expands the sword & sorcery setting across the vibrant and dynamic ancient far east, utilising the OpenQuest d100 system and its accessible mechanics.
Here’s a little taster from the book…
The Zaharets, the land between the Vori Wastes and the Plains of Aeco, is well-known as the Land of Risings. Dominated by the rising city-states of Ameena Noani and Sentem, facing each other along the great War Road, the Zaharets has always been home to powerful civilizations. Beastmen ruins dot the landscape, a constant reminder of the Kingdom of Sin and the fragility of the Law of Men. Even older are the great ruins of the Hulathi, the legendary sea peoples, and the Hannic mansions sealed beneath the mountains, awaiting those who would seek out the Lost Folk. Scars abound from the wars between ruined Keta in the north and Gerwa in the south. And, far to the east, the legends of Muadah still beckon occultists and Jackals who seek to plunder its corrupted ruins.
Inspired by the myths, cultures, and history of the Ancient Near East, and by such ancient texts as the Iliad, the Epic of Gilgamesh, and the Old Testament, Jackals is a Sword & Sorcery roleplaying game set in a Fantasy Bronze Age. With mechanics based on the popular OpenQuest system, the game places players in the role of Jackals – adventurers, explorers, sellswords, and scavengers – and sends them out into the peril-filled land of the Zaharets to make their fortune… or perhaps fulfill a greater destiny…
I’ll be in touch with pdf copies of the book along with some cover art for you to take a look at. I know you’re going to love it, and I hope your viewers and readers will too. If you have any questions or need any additional materials please don’t hesitate to email me. You can always find us online at @OspreyGames and find more about Jackals on the Osprey Games website. There, you’ll find some behind-the-scenes blog articles about Jackals that J-M has been writing, as well as more about the game’s setting itself.
That’s all from me for now. Please let me know if you’d like to see a physical copy (and if you need the original Jackals!) and I look forward to speaking with you.
