Us folks over at RPGGeek would like to invite you all to another great part of this site for some Play-by-Forum gaming. If you've ever wanted to try out a Role Playing Game, now's your chance!
The goal of this initiative is to help bring people into (or back to!) the RPG hobby and to get them active in the RPG Geek Play-by-Forums. We play hundreds of games in the forum every year and our numbers continue to grow! Many of us found our way to RPGG through these New Player Initiatives and we hope you'll do the same. As such, we are launching this across all three domains (although BGG and VGG are the focus for this as we are running short on food for our mascot).
The games have been hand picked for this event. You won't need to buy any books and the rules will be explained to you. The only thing you need to bring is a bit of your spare time! The GMs have been asked to keep games on the shorter side, but please plan on committing a few minutes each weekday for two to four months, possibly longer, depending on the game you choose!
Please take note:
Until March 15th, the following two rules are in place.
Please adhere to these rules when signing up for a game.
Signups are currently open ONLY to players NEW to RPG Geek Play-by-Forum games! Exception: If you previously signed up for a game here on RPGG that never got played, you're as good as new.
Each new player can only sign up for a single game!
Then, as soon as it is March 15th where you are, the floodgates will open and new players may signup for a second game, but not sign up for more than 2 games total!
Also, at that time, anyone having prior experience with RPGG PbFs will also be unleashed upon the world and may sign up for a single game!
Finally, on March 18th, anyone may fill open spots on remaining games!
Thank you for your cooperation, and have fun!
You'll find a range of games on offer to suit most any taste. Feel free to ask the Game Masters any questions you might have before signing up. You'll find the geeklist of available games here...
List of Games
Everyone who participates will get this commemorative microbadge!
Also, the Banner Makers Guild has volunteered to make custom banners for your character posts. The Banner Makers Guild supports RPGGeeks and the various play by forum games by providing beautiful banners to represent player characters in the PbF posts.
Many of the games involve rolling dice, and because we have the GeekDieRoller at our disposal, it's a snap! You can find out all about the die roller and a great deal of other useful info by following the links below.

So the geek has a lot of pages and most of us see only a portion of them. I'm not talking about just game or item pages, but other less known things, like the Top Reviewers list:
If you look at it, you'll see some familiar names. The one I'm writing about isBryce LynchUnited States
Today he wrote his 1124th & 1125th reviews, which catapulted him into third place on the Top Reviewer list. It's the first time since 2010 that Tom Vasel hasn't been in the top 3 for written reviews.
More amazing -- all of Bryce' reviews are of RPG items, making him the most prolific RPG reviewer.
(And yes, I am checking my rear view mirror).

Jump into this 5th Edition-compatible campaign guide!
In case you missed our announcement last year, we partnered with our friends at WizKids to transform the world of their popular miniatures line, *Wardlings* , into a 5th Edition-compatible roleplaying supplement.
Designed by industry veteran Elisa Teague, this campaign book gives players a chance to create and explore stories centered around young heroes embarking on enchanted adventures, along with their favorite, mystical animal companions.
Step into a world of wonder and magic, sparked by the innocence of humanity’s most important heroes: the children.
The *Wardlings Campaign Guide* brings an enchanted new campaign setting to life, where the minds of the youth, uncorrupted by the vices and responsibilities of their elders, are able to perceive magical creatures and events in the world around them, where adults cannot. Here, children are the saviors of the land who venture on epic quests to protect their realm; holding on to the virtues of youth has never been more imperative!
This book contains character creation guidelines for your *Wardlings* character, new core class options, a magic system for your Wardling’s familiar, an overview of the lands of Or’Mya and its inhabitants, new backgrounds, powerful spells, whimsical monsters, and more – all fully compatible and customizable with the 5th Edition of the “world’s greatest roleplaying game.” The world of Or’Mya awaits its mighty champions. What kind of hero will you be?
Come explore the world of Or’Mya when the game releases in May for Gamers 10+. Pre-order at your friendly local game store and learn more about *The Wardlings Campaign Guide* on the Renegade Game Studios website.

Press Release: The Setting Behind Critical Role Comes to Life in The World’s Greatest Roleplaying Game
13 Jan 2020
Explorer’s Guide to Wildemount Coming in March
RENTON, WA – January 13, 2020 – When Critical Role debuted in March 2015, no one predicted the success of a Dungeons & Dragons liveplay show starring prominent voice actors. Not only has the show inspired a vast fan community of “Critters” to create fan art, cosplay, and even musicals based on Critical Role’s adventures, but the stories crafted by Matthew Mercer and his friends have encouraged droves of new players to try D&D for the first time. The D&D Team at Wizards of the Coast is excited to officially collaborate with Mercer by publishing a brand new tabletop roleplaying book detailing the continent explored in the second campaign of Critical Role, complete with player options such as subclasses, magic items, and more. Explorer’s Guide to Wildemount will be available in stores everywhere on March 17, 2020!
“Critical Role is a great example of why Dungeons & Dragons has been popular for over 45 years: a group of friends getting together, telling stories, and making each other laugh. In this case, the friends are talented performers playing live on camera, but the fun’s the same. We’re thrilled D&D fans and Critters alike can now enjoy playing in Matt’s world, as brought to fifth edition in this lovingly-crafted book,” said Nathan Stewart, VP of Franchise for Dungeons & Dragons.
“I'm sincerely so honored and excited to be working directly with Chris Perkins and this team of talented D&D writers and designers to bring this book to not just our community, but to D&D players everywhere,” said Matthew Mercer, Chief Creative Officer and Dungeon Master of Critical Role, as well as lead writer on the guide. “Dungeons & Dragons has had such a massive, positive impact on nearly my entire life, and I am ever inspired by the endless creativity I see it spark in so many others across the world. To have been able to work with Wizards of the Coast to bring my world to life as an official campaign book is nothing short of surreal. I can't wait to see what other DMs and players create within my world to make it their own!”
The 304-page Explorer’s Guide to Wildemount invites DMs to start playing in any of Wildemount’s regions using introductory adventures, dozens of story-inspiring plot seeds, and the new heroic chronicle system. Adventurers can also expect to discover countless secrets revealed by Critical Role Dungeon Master Matthew Mercer for the first time. Players and DMs will find new character options available for play in any campaign, like the Echo Knight fighter subclass, spells of dunamancy, numerous new monsters, and more!

From their website:
The RuneQuest Glorantha Bestiary is 'Pay-What-You-Want' for the next seven days; but don't pay us, donate to Australian bushfire relief.
We're making the RuneQuest Glorantha Bestiary 'Pay-What-You-Want' on DriveThruRPG for the next seven days (regular price is USD$19.99). If you download it, instead of paying us, we encourage you to make a donation to the Australian fire-fighting and recovery effort.
We at Chaosium think Gloranthan beasts are special; however Australian animals are unique and precious - and real. But it is estimated up to half a billion of them have perished so far in the devasting wildfires still raging across the continent. That number is expected to rise dramatically, as vast swathes of habitat have been consumed by flame.
Some places where you can donate:
WIRES is a wildlife rescue nonprofit rescuing and caring for thousands of sick, injured and orphaned Australian native animals.
World Wildlife Fund Australia is directing its efforts towards koala conservation. Thousands have perished so far.
The Port Macquarie Koala Hospital is raising funds to distribute automatic drinking stations in the burnt areas to help in koala and wildlife survival, and sharing the funds with other wildlife organisations in the fire affected regions.
Other places to support:
Australian Red Cross
New South Wales Rural Fire Service
Country Fire Authority Victoria
