It’s been a wild few days at E3 and we’ve got a few more items of news to share.

Asmodee Digital is Headed to Console
As we’ve reported, two Asmodee titles are making their way to console this year: Ticket to Ride on PS4 and Carcassonne on Switch.

In the Nintendo Direct at E3 we caught a brief glimpse of the game. Check it out in this video featuring Nintendo’s 2018 lineup. It lists the release as Holiday 2018.

Super Mario Party
On Tuesday, Nintendo revealed Super Mario Party, the next in their long running digital board game series.

It looks like they’ve walked back a lot of the poor choices they made in the last installment. It also appears they’ve added one of the most interesting modes from the latest 3DS version that gives players more control on their turn.

Check out the trailer from E3

A Few More Nintendo Tidbits
The Nintendo presentation included a few more interesting games.

One user in my last E3 post wanted to make sure we mentioned Killer Queen Black. This competitive multiplayer game has a bit of cult following and several win conditions, which is unique for the genre.

Fire Emblem is a strategy series that will feel just like home for any board game player. A version of the Nintendo Switch is in the works and it looks like its bring a bunch of new changes. Check out the trailer:

Octopath Traveler was announced when the Switch was first revealed. It is a Square Enix RPG that features a classic style with a twist. On top of the look, it is adopting an interesting structure following one of 8 unique characters. I’ve been skeptical on this title in the past, but the latest showing has me wanting to give it another shot. Check out the latest trailer.

We’ve compiled a few news bits from E3 that may be interesting to board games fans. E3 is the premiere video game convention of the year.

Bethesda Reveals Elder Scrolls Blades
Turns out that the jokes of Skyrim on phones was not 100% just a joke. At Bethesda’s press conference they revealed a new Elder Scrolls games only for phones called Elder Scrolls Blades.

They boast console quality graphics and interesting gesture based combat. You can check out more details in this reveal video:

Command and Conquer Rivals
At the EA press conference on Saturday, they revealed a new Command and Conquer game coming to mobile.

It appears to be inspired by games like Clash Royale but features some classic RTS elements like harvesting. Check out full details in this video:

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle Donkey Kong DLC
Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is one of the best strategy games of recent memory. It is a real highlight of the Switch library and must play for any digital board game fan.

A new DLC featuring Donkey Kong arrives later this month. Check out the latest trailer from the show.

That’s it for now but we’ll be back with additional E3 bits if anything pops up later this week.

Six Ages Coming June 28th
Six Ages, the sequel to the classic Kind of Dragon Pass, is set to release on June 28th on iOS. I’ve been looking forward to this for a long time. You can pre-order starting June 21st at a price of $9.99.

If you’ve never played King of Dragon Pass, this combination of grand strategy game and choose your own adventure has become a cult classic. It is truly something special with the ability to capture a complex story in a unique package. Released almost 20 years ago, it also has a really unique world view that tackled many social issues. This is one not to be missed.

Six Ages looks to continue that legacy. Here is a description from the team:
Quote:

Producer David Dunham said, “I was really happy to be able to get so many of the original team back together. Our goal was to capture the magic of King of Dragon Pass, and make something that wasn’t just a simple sequel. So we jumped back in time about two thousand years.”

Six Ages: Ride Like the Wind takes the elements that made KoDP unique (the mythic setting where you can visit the gods, multiple-choice decisions with consequences, advisors with personality, a generation-spanning story, story elements that recombine for replayability) and remixes them. Play is both simpler and richer (for example, you’ll get to make more decisions in combat), and the UI was designed with attention to mobile devices (the menu puts more information at your fingertips, and all artwork is high resolution).
This is one to keep an on. Here is a look at the release trailer:

Full disclosure, David Dunham, producer of Six Age, is a former co-worker and good friend of mine.

7 Wonders Cities Releases
The 7 Wonders app has been making steady improvement since its release. This week we get the release of the latest expansion: Cities.

This expansion introduces new black cards and additional leaders. There are also two new wonders to explore.

You can pick up the app the expansion on iOS and Android here.

Out of the Loop Party Game Coming Soon
The team behind Sumer and Triple Agent is releasing a new mobile party game next week.

This one appears to be similar to Spyfall and can be played on a single or multiple devices. Like Spyfall, you play with a group where one person is secretly the spy. The rest of the group has a secret word that the spy is trying to figure it out. The app serves up suggested questions to help players keep things moving.

The release date is aimed at June 14th so look out for this soon. Check out this preview from GDC from the folks at Touch Arcade:

Paradox on Paper
Paradox is famous for crunchy strategy games such as City Skylines and Stellaris on PC. At PDX Con last week they announced that they will be starting to publish tabletop games based on their properties. The first will be based on Crusader Kings which is on Kickstarter now.

They put together this trailer to breakdown more of the details:

Video Game Publisher: Cranio Creations

Cranio Thinks Digitally
Cranio Creations, an Italian based board game publisher, announced earlier this month that they are starting Cranio digital. They did not announce any specific titles but did say it would include their own IP as well as those of third-parties.

Looks like they are shooting for the moon on platforms, including: iOS, Android, Steam, PC, Mac, and VR. Here’s hoping for a new version of Sheepland...

Roll For It! in AR
Thunderbox Entertainment always seems to be pushing the technical boundaries when it comes to digital board games. Last week they followed the lead they set with Tsuro and brought Roll For It! to AR. You can access this mode from within the game. Come check it out.
