Hey everyone, we heard yesterday about the unexpected release by Queen Games of Alhambra by Dirk Henn for iOS. Equally unexpected, is that Alhambra and also Kingdom Builder by Donald X. Vaccarino was released for Android as well. Many thanks to our readers for passing along the info in the other thread, but I am also posting here with the Android info for anyone who missed it. Name: Vludkin ClaNz
Device: Android
Price: $2.99
Players: 1-2
Multiplayer: Solo vs AI, Pass and Play
Designer/Developer:Stephen Winterflood
Google Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Winterfloo...
"VludKin ClaNz is a game about the struggle of the VludKin for control over the Vlud, the energy upon which their world is built" is how the author describes his new app for Android. How they struggle for that control...well that involves a deck of cards and a die roll. You go though a deck of cards and attempt to push your influence number up. The player with the lowest influence number on one of their Vludkin at the end of the game loses.
Here's a quick overview: You have two randomly drawn Vludkin cards, each with an associated color and an starting influence number. Your opponent has the same. The main deck of cards has influence cards and power cards. Power cards have abilities. Influence cards show how much your influence will go up or down if you win the card by having three colors that might match your Vludkin, and numbers positive, negative, or zero that shows how much it changes. See the screenshot on the right for an example of what I mean.
For power cards, if you win the card, you get to do the ability. There are also two color symbols on each. If your Vludkin's color matches the one on the left, your roll is easier by one, harder by one if it matches the one on the right of the card.

Name: Ticket to Ride
Devices: Android Tablets, already on iPhone, iPad
Launch Price: $6.99
Multiplayer: Solo against AI, Online Play
Developer: Days of Wonder
BGG Entry: Ticket to Ride
VGG Entry: Ticket to Ride
Google Play: http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.daysofwonde...
Notes:Back in March, Days of Wonder asked Android users if there was enough interest in the platform to be willing to fund a Kickstarter to bring Small World to their screens. Today, Days of Wonder brings Android users another treat, as they release Ticket to Ride, by Alan Moon.
This app runs on Android 4.0.3 (Ice Cream Sandwich) or higher tablets with a minimum screen resolution of 1024x600 although 1280x800 or higher is recommended. Those resolutions allow the app to show menus and game interface in a similar graphic style to the game box showing those turn of the century travelers and train staff and map board The game's main screen shows the board, the cards available for draw, and your hand cards. Also present are indicators showing your avatar, the count of trains remaining, and your destination tickets. At the top of the screen is the same information for your opponents. If playing an online game, you also have a chat window off to the side as well. Most of the screens for the Android version have a similar look to ones of the Steam for PC version. The Android version does have a feature that the PC one does not, in that the board itself supports pinch and zoom, if you need to get a better look at playing surface. This can be handy especially if you are on a smaller tablet and need to zoom in to see city names, or the color blind friendly symbols that are present on the routes between cities, just as the actual game has on it.
As I mentioned above, there is either solo play against 1-4 bots, or online play against real humans playing on Days of Wonder's other apps they support such as Steam on PC & Mac, iOS, or the Days of Wonder website. There is a chat lobby where you can observe, join, or create games with other online players. Also available as in app purchases are the expansion maps of Asia, Europe, Switzerland, and USA 1910.

Name: Reiner Knizia's Tigris & Euphrates
Device: Android, already on iOS
Price: $3.99
Players: 1-4
Multiplayer: Solo vs AI, Pass and Play, and Around the Table hotseat
Based on BGG Entry: Tigris & Euphrates
Designer: Reiner Knizia
Developer: Codito Development, Sage Board Games
Google Play Store: http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ca.codito.euphr...
iOS App Store: https://itunes.apple.com/app/reiner-knizias-tigris-euphrates...
When I first came to BGG many years ago, I would often see posts where someone would say that they were just introduced to eurogames by someone. Tantalized by these different style games, and having played Settlers until they had their fill, they wanted to know what else was out there. Almost unanimous, the replies would have Tigris & Euphrates as the game to take that next step on that road to boardgame geekdom.
Now enjoy this Knizia classic on Android. Already available on iOS, the folks at Codito Development and Sage Board Games have now released Tigris and Euphrates to the Google Play Store. From the App Description wrote:Tigris & Euphrates is set in the ancient fertile crescent with players building civilizations through tile placement.
Your goal is to develop all 4 of the key spheres of civilization: Settlements, Temples, Farms, and Markets. To do this, you will position your leaders, create and extend kingdoms, build monuments, and resolve conflicts. Tension arises when kingdoms connect and leaders clash on the board, with only one leader of each type surviving. You will thus aquire victory points in each of the four spheres. The winner is the player who develops their civilization in the most balanced way, without revealing a sphere of weakness.
Features:
Visually stunning graphics utilizing traditional board game design
Immersive theme music
Full tutorial and in-game hints
Support for three modes of play:
- Solo play with varying degrees of AI difficulty
- "Pass and play" with 2 to 4 local human players with or without AI
- "Hotseat" (around the table) play for tablets
Coming soon: turn-based online multiplayer!
Currently the app allows local multiplayer, but the developers say that online support is coming, but because of the added testing involved, wanted to get the main game released.

Small World 2 Kickstarter Back -- Focuses on New Platforms
Back in January, we heard from Days of Wonder in the comments of their previous iPad Small World 2 Kickstarter project, that they would be would be launching a separate project in March in order to fund Android tablet and PC (running Steam) versions of Small World 2.
As of today, the Kickstarter project for the Android and PC version is now live. Their goal is to raise $150,000 in order to fund, and the project will wrap up in 30 days.
Looks like they learned a bit from their aborted Kickstarter in January. This time, the backer rewards are much simpler. Backers will get Small World 2 on a platform of their choosing and 3 races and powers specially designed for Kickstarter Backers. Physical rewards include a 6 player cardboard map, a Small World Pocket Encycolopedia and the chance to design your own race or mini-expansion.
Did you want that amazing designer edition of Small World, but couldn't figure out what pledge you needed to get it? Well, now it's just an add-on that you can add to any pledge level...for $320.
There are other add-ons as well, such as cardboard chits for the new races, t-shirts, and more.
Check out the Small World 2 Kickstarter here.

The folks over at Codito Development and Sage Boardgames have said that their Android version of Tigris & Euphrates is almost ready for beta testing.
Are you good at putting software through its paces? Because they are looking for Android device owners to beta test the app.
Good luck to the testers and we all will be looking forward to seeing this classic Knizia on Android. Here are the details:Chris Ewington from Codito wrote:
If you're interested, please send an email to "beta (at) codito (dot) ca" and tell us:
1) What device(s) you have (make, model, and version of Android running)
2) Why you think you would make a good tester
You must also be prepared to sign an NDA and to keep the gloating to your less fortunate friends to a minimum...
We will be taking submissions until March 7, 2013 and will notify accepted testers on March 8th.
We look forward to hearing from you!
