The Thursday Thing might be a new feature depending on how people feel about it. The goal of The Thing is to highlight contests and other interesting things on RPG Geek.
Obviously, the banners and The Thursday Thing are still evolving, but I think the banners are getting better every week as we replace my "art" with Patrick's.
Suggestions are still welcome.
How I got where I am via the Contribute/Add/Clone buttons
Back in 2009 I created an account on BGG because I was getting back into board gaming and wanted to track my collection and plays.
Then RPG Geek happened. I was a fan of the Traveller RPG in all its forms and had a small collection of items and a bunch of old magazines with articles on Traveller. I also had access to a comprehensive list of all the Traveller items ever produced and the magazine issues that mentioned Traveller.
So I started helping flesh out the RPG Geek database with the items and issues that I owned, and added new things as I acquired them over those early years. This included a ton of image scans, even including images of ads in magazine issues. I joined the RPG Heroes guild when it started up and started adding magazine articles as well.
Today the database is pretty up-to-date concerning the things that I care about, but I still add the occasional item with images as I get them, and magazine issues with images and articles as I get them. So the pace of my contributions has gone down, but I still enjoy doing this.
I’ve also rated and commented on all the things that I own and continue to do that as well, hoping that others might find that useful.
A new initiative has taken hold at RPG Geek. Teh RPG Spotlight focuses attention on different games with some stock questions and ideas about each of them. Even if you haven't played the game, Farydia has questions for you.
Here's the latest focus:

Every day there's a new Question of the Day. Most of them are game-related but once in a while we get one that'a more geek-related like favorite movies or books. The question changes every day and you can even suggest a QOTD. When you check out this week's Question of the Week, you can see a link to all the old questions and the chance to suggest a question of your own. Here's this week's QOTD:
QOTD JUL 15: Would you play or run a non violent adventure where everyone involved just sat down and talked things out?
This week we're pointing at a geeklist suggested by ctimmins. It's been around for over a decade, but it's the sort of list we could update pretty often. It's also good for a few laughs.
