Consulting GeekBuddy Ratings for Christmas List

I've been mulling over my Wishlist and in preparation for sending family my Christmas list. Out of curiosity I consulted my Geekbuddies' Ratings against my list. After all I chose these GeekBuddies because something about their game choices resonated with me.

Starting with my top choices:

Macao 6 Geekbuddies/8.42 avg rating
My wife and I have really enjoyed Castles of Burgundy, our most played game for three consecutive months since purchasing it at Gen Con. This choice represents adding another Feld selection, confirmed by others.

Star Wars: X-Wing 3 GB/9.00 avg
My kicking-myself-for-not-buying-it-at-Gen-Con pick. It is widely popular, hot, and appeals to my childhood much like M44 does. It also has the potential to include multiple players on Game Nights and bring the guys together more often. I've asked for 2 core sets and 1 each of the TIE Advance and Y-Wing expansions to start.

The Resistance 10 GB/8.05 avg
I have not played this popular social game, but having so many GeekBuddies rating it for an 8.05 avg tells me that this is likely a solid addition. I look forward to introducing it as an ice-breaker for our monthly hosted Game Nights.

Sentinels of the Multiverse 3 GB/7.00 avg
This has been on my watch list for a while. I had the opportunity to play this at Gen Con and all though I can't say I fully understood what was going on and why I did enjoy it and would like to acquire it. It does not seem to be a very popular choice amongst my GB's nor does it have a confidence building rating. None the less I've got it on the list and willing to give it a chance.

Troyes 6 GB/6.55 avg
This was the analysis surprise for me. It was nearly the lowest rated game on my Wishlist amongst those I've found to have similar taste as I do (the criteria I use for selecting GBs). My wife and I enjoy Kingsburg and so do some of our gaming friends, but I do sense the desire an itch for a heavier, dice-placement game and this seems to be the choice that continually calls out my name.

When it comes to my second tier picks I won't go into great detail but share my GB findings and a very brief comment.

- Alhambra (10/7.39) - my wife likes this one and recently bought an expansion at an auction
- Battlestar Galactica (10/7.50) - like the theme, looking for epic co-op to try with game group
- Hansa Teutonica (8/7.62) - the Euro that keeps catching my attention, worth it???
- Morels (5/7.30) - this fits my regular gaming habits which is mostly 2p games with my wife
- Pandemic (17/7.81) - the goto game to introduce more friends to co-ops
- Seasons (5/8.05) - just looks interesting
- Suburbia - the new game that appeals to me that very few have tried yet

What thoughts or recommendations do you have based on the selections you see listed? Anything interesting before I send out the list?

meeple Keep playing...
