Sorry folks, been too busy to keep up on the monthly recaps (which used to be weekly recaps blush). I'm hoping to pump out some year-end content here with my favorite games and moments from board gaming 2012. For starters, here are the games that I played the most over the past year.

We had 373 plays spread out over 67 different games and expansions. Despite Android: Netrunner only being out for three months and only playing A Game of Thrones: The Card Game regularly for five months, they both ran away with most of this year's plays. This is primarily due to a weekly LCG night at our FLGS that ensures weekly plays for them. This is also my first year getting into playing board games, so aside from a few titles, almost everything on this list was new to me this year.

New Game of the Year Android: Netrunner

Just about every board game in existence (aside from traditional ameritrash ala Monopoly, Risk, Battleship) was new to me coming into this year, but our first year in the board game hobby introduced us to a lot of new games. For the first time ever, my wife and I experienced Agricola, Puerto Rico, Power Grid, Eclipse, Dominion, 7 Wonders, and many others (all listed above, conveniently enough). Nonetheless, for us, Netrunner outshone all of those and made a huge splash, and it sits atop my list of favorite games overall.

Did I mention we're new to this board game thing? Our first year meant we had a lot of catching up to do. And sure enough, within a year, we now own more games than we have time to play, so we'll start slowing down a bit. After the new Netrunner and X-Wing expansions. And Hegemonic. And Nations. And Legendary. And Lost Valley. And Lost Legends. And 1775. And... this is going to be a recurring issue, isn't it?
