Yomi Coming to iOS
David Sirlin of Sirlin Games has posted that their card-fighting game, Yomi, is heading to iOS.
Yomi is a 2-player card game that simulates fighting video games, where each player has a deck of cards for a specific character. The game uses a rock-paper-scisssors mechanic, and relies on players being able to anticipate what their opponent is going to play each turn. (I haven't played it...can you tell?)
Currently, both Yomi and Sirlin Games' other hit, Puzzle Strike, are available to play for free on their webpage. David indicated, however, that both of these web versions are getting some big upgrades. Yomi for iOS will use the same UI as the web version and should be released around the same time as the relaunch of those titles on the web, hopefully sometime in March.
Yomi will be FREE to download, with 2 (of 10) characters playable. These characters will rotate each week, so you'll have a chance to try different characters over time. On top of that is a 'coin' model, where you can purchase coins that will allow you to play any character you want. You will get a free coin each day, so you will be able to pick any character you want once a day for free on top of the 2 free characters offered that week.
Multiplayer will be available between iOS devices, and the web version of the game at that time, and your coins and ranking will follow you between devices and (hopefully) the PC version.
Single player will be against the bot that is currently available on the website. David hopes to add some cool functionality to single-player mode in the future, but until they see if the app is successful the bot will be the only AI opponent.
The app will most likely be Universal. If it isn't, however, there will be both an iPad and iPhone version. Seeing as how they're FREE and your data and purchases will transfer, who needs universal anyway?
Android is a possibility in the future, but currently there is nobody working on a port for Android.
I'll post more information about Yomi as we get it!
Playdek Starting Agricola Beta
Playdek posted a quick update on the status of the Agricola beta on their Facebook page. Basically, they are currently looking over all the beta applications they received and will be selecting testers by next week. Keep checking your email, as all beta invites should be sent next week. That means Agricola isn't too far from living on your iPad.
Star Wars Dice Updated
Fantasy Flight Games has updated Star Wars Dice to version 1.1 for both iOS and Android. This update will allow players to sort dice and to modify results after rolling. There are also new backgrounds and a dice-only sound pack as well as some streamlining of the app settings. Star Wars Dice is for iOS Universal, costs $4.99USD and is available on the App Store and Google Play.
SolForge Questions Answered
Stone Blade Entertainment has released an hour-long Q&A session covering their upcoming digital card game, SolForge. They cover everything that I could think of, including release timeframe, balancing the cards, and what kind of cake they like best.
Unfortunately, the video is on Twitch TV, so I can't embed it here. (Or, more accurately, I don't know how) You can find the video here.
