Setting the scene:
It is the 6th card play in the Spring Campaign turn of 1862. President Davis has earned 13 PCs (Political Influence Points) and 4 ESPs (Enthusiastic Support Points) on the CSA Political Currency Track. President Lincoln has been rocked back on his heels in the West. He can boast only 9 PCs and 1 ESP on the USA Political Currency Track. Each player has only four playable cards in their hand as well as their ever-present “0” Resource Card.
Lincoln is looking at: 4 PC George Thomas, 3 PC Abner Doubleday (whose event is a Combat Resource that would negate one CSA attack but force the attacker to lose any committed ESPs), a 3 PC Campaign card (which would allow the movement of any two Generals, regardless of activation restrictions), and -2 PC Horace Greeley – an unwelcome seditionist.
Davis is looking at: his own seditionist -2 PC William Yancy, 2 PC Rose O’Neal Greenhow, 3 PC Nathan Bedford Forrest (whose event is a Combat Resource, a +3 Flank Attack), and 5 PC John S. Mosby (also a Combat Resource which would prevent one USA attack but force the attacker to lose any committed ESPs).
