I’ve recently started to cover simple solitaire Print’n’Play games (PnPs) here on my blog and it turns out that the 2013 Solitaire Print and Play Contest was announced more or less simultaneously.
It’s a contest about solitaire PnPs (yes, you may call me Captain Obvious ) and from the perspective of this blog it’s interesting to note that there are categories for thematic games and for small games. Personally I hope to see a lot of entries that combine those categories, because as mentioned previously I like my PnPs very simple to make.
Large geekgold prices are given for the best game and for various categories. I’ve thrown in 5 geekgold into the prize jars for the categories that I find the most interesting (best thematic game, best written rules, best new designer and best small game), and I encourage to throw your own tips in the jars if you enjoy PnPs.
If you’re interested in participating you must create a WIP (Work In Progress) thread, though if you had one of those for your game before the 1st of July or have entered the game in a previous contest you’re out of luck and can’t enter this contest. You can create the WIP thread even if your game is only in the idea phase.
The deadline for entering games in the competition is the 5th of October, and your game must be final by then (you are of course free to still update your game, but it’s the version that was ready for the deadline that will be evaluated for the contest.
The evaluation consists of six weeks after the 5th of October, where everybody (AFAIK) can try out the games and participate in the voting process.
So if you’re interested in PnPs please go check out the contest thread, try the games and even better: Enter your own game into the contest.
