French moved towards the Centre, which is the largest section and with the most cards (by section). However, the cards were up to their tricks with Left & Right, and nothing Centre. A parade of Probes, Scouts and the odd Attack. Brent's artillery bombarded and Fired, but the dice were against him this day.
Eventually the French started into the Left flank (Spanish Right) and forced back the Centre artillery. Very piecemeal attack, but knocked out the Spanish cavalry on that flank.
Then the inevitable LGM assault followed by the GM, which took 2 banners and crushed the French Right. Fortunately the assault was repulsed, and no Left cards were drawn by the Allies, but it looked like a winner at the time, and 2-3 banners lay there to be taken.
However, the Centre cards started to come, and a highly successful Heavy Cavalry attack on the Left carried across to the centre, followed by a Forced March, and the Spanish began to die in droves. At one point score stood at 9-4, but a Allied Bayonet Charge claimed 2 banners, and the desperate GM gained another. Finally the Spanish centre cracked and fell, leaving the final score at 10-7
On the whole, I think the 1 GM only rule works, at least in minimising the LGM assault bounty. It is a rule that just doesn't sit well with me at all. Clearly the Spanish need help, but the GM rule sucks. Maybe the GM should just be played as a Victory Banner. Commands & Colors: Napoleonics Expansion #1 – The Spanish Army
