North Star Games designs party games that don't suck! Play them with your non-gamer friends over the holidays.
First there was Hearts, then there was Spades, and now we bring you Clubs. The suit of clubs finally gets some respect!

This is an amazing day for me. I've been waiting to make a post like this for a long, long time...
If you've followed North Star Games, you know that we've been chomping at the bit to release strategy games ever since starting the company 10 years ago.
News Flash: There will be no more chomping at NorthStar!

New Strategy Division
We've finally decided to start a strategy division at North Star Games. The games in this product line will have complexity comparable to Dominion, Stone Age, Small World, King of Tokyo, Manhattan Project, Ticket to Ride, 7 Wonders, etc. The first release in our NorthStar Strategy product line is a game that is currently being called Survival of the Fittest. It's a complete revamping of a game by Dmitry Knorre and Sergey Machin and it's going to be AWESOME! As many people know, there were some issues with the original game, but we've found some simple ways to solve the problems. We've also hired a superb artist, Catherine Hamilton, to bring the game to life. Here is her first concept sketch:

So what's been holding us back from releasing strategy games? Money. Starting a new division takes a significant financial investment, and every time we discussed the possibility, we concluded that we should put our cash back into growing our core business. It's hard to argue against that conclusion when you're growing your core business at 30% a year (and even faster if you go back more than 4 years). Last year we grew our revenues at 33%.

But Kickstarter gives us a way to fuel the growth of a new division without taking cash away from our current operations. So we're going to use Kickstarter to release the games in our NorthStar Strategy product line. This will allow us to continue to grow our core business, help us gauge how many copies of our strategy games to print, and hopefully help with our marketing efforts.

Kickstarter Details
If you'd like to be informed when we Kickstart each game, Email Kickstarter at NorthStarGames dot com. We expect to release 1 hobby game a year so this won't clog your inbox. Our Kickstarter backers will get several benefits including:

- An awesome game 2 - 4 months before we release it to stores.
- Discounted prices for early backers.
- Upgraded components.
- A chance to get some of the original art work.
- 3 week's worth of good luck.
- And any other cool trinkets we can think up.

Like I said, this is one awesome day for me. Let me know if you have any questions. Cheers!

Playtesters Wanted
I'm still figuring out the details. More about this on my next post, so "subscribe" if you're interested...
