I had the miniature for Skaw the Falconer but he was missing his hawks. At first I thought to use the giant eagles from The Battle of Five Armies, but they have become too expensive. Then I saw these Razorwings (40K Dark Eldar) in my bits box... Some drops of superglue and 100 curses later, Skaw's constructed and ready!
5th Edition Warhammer deleted the Wood Elf Beastmasters as a Regiments choice. The only two left were Special Characters (Gruarth and Skaw). But I really wanted to include the Shapeshifters and Beastmasters as a theme. That's why my regiment fillers are puma's, bears and wolves.
To create the perfect "Boar Pack" (which counts as a Ratswarm):
- Boars from the Forbidden Forest.
- Vintage metal boars from Marauder Miniatures.
- Old Wood Elf Beastmaster Boars from Citadel Miniatures.
I removed the rubber bases from the D&D boars with a sharp knife. For the metals, I don't like the "pinning" modelling technique. So I used a different approach. Bending the slottabase lid flat makes it a good glueing spot. I also filed it a little bit flatter to make sure it sticks to the base very well. After all these preparations it up to the magical TEC-7 again to fix them all to the monster bases.
Theme-wise, these Boar Packs can be used in my Orc, Bretonnian and Wood Elves armies. They count as choices from the Monsters list (WHFB 5th Edition).
In this blog I'll talk about various miniature games. Custom miniatures and minor conversions are my favorite pastime. I'll cover scenery making and painting too. The WIP you'll see here is all about Necromunda, Epic 40,000, Warhammer Fantasy 5th Edition, Warmaster and Warhammer 40K 3rd Edition.
