Just a quick post to update you guys about a neat game from Level 99 Games called BattleCON. I've done a review of it but the game won't be ready for mass consumption until around November of this year.
BattleCON is a two player fighting card game that feels like playing a fighting video game. You have a hand of about 8 cards and you use them to battle your opponent. Even though the card number is small you have about 35 different attacks per character using the innovative card matching and token system.
Do you hate the luck factor in most card games? Well luck is not an issue in BattleCON because you choose the cards you want to use and you choose the cards you want to avoid. There's no shuffling either, just pure tactics and making sure to have the cards you need at the right time.
BattleCON is non collectable or constructable. The decks are pre made and pre balanced so you can just concentrate on learning how to best use your fighter. Plus at around $35 you're getting a heck of a deal for a ton of fighters.
Brad Talton the designer of BattleCON recently told me:
"We plan to support the game with a local-level tournament program, where players can come in bi-weekly and play competitively against one another for prizes. Tournament Prize Support kits will be available on our website around the same time that the game comes out. More information will be available on that as it happens."
Variants, expansions and much more news to come as we get closer to the release date.
