Cabinet Entertainment and Secret Cow Level are glad to announce the return of the Doomtrooper CCG on digital platforms. Development is already underway and a Kickstarter campaign is planned for the fall to give the game some added features and finishing touches. Bryan Winter, the original creator, is working with the development team to update the game and its rules for a modern audience. The team is currently reaching out to bring in more renowned designers, writers and artists to the project.
“We've been huge fans of Doomtrooper since its debut in 1994. Since I started working in the game industry it has been a dream of mine to create a digital version of Doomtrooper, so my friends and I could play together again now that we all live in different areas. Imagine my surprise and excitement when I discovered that Cabinet Entertainment was located literally down the street from me, which made this close collaboration possible,” said Justin Reynard of Secret Cow Level.
The game is developed to be cross-platform which will give you the ability to play Doomtrooper with anyone, no matter which device they use or what region of the world they live in. The internal alpha is currently running on OSX and Windows, with iOS/Android soon to follow.
“When Doomtrooper was originally launched it catapulted into one of the most popular CCGs on the market. Despite being out of print for more than 15 years, gamers worldwide kept the flame alive. When we met Justin we knew we had the right partner and we look forward to introducing a new generation of gamers to this amazing CCG,” said Fredrik Malmberg of Cabinet Entertainment.
Mutant Chronicles is a futuristic and dystopian world where mankind, divided into warring mega-corporations, largely has fled the devastated Earth, and colonized and terraformed the inner solar system and the Asteroid Belt. The opening of an alien portal on a newly discovered planet beyond our solar system inadvertently allowed the Dark Soul to seep into our plane of existence, and to unleash its Apostles and the Dark Symmetry. This permeating force corrupts mankind’s technology and sets it back several hundred years. Not only do the mega-corporations fight one another, now they face an even bigger threat, towards all of them.
The Mutant Chronicles franchise has its origins in the 90s and was wildly successful with two editions of the RPG, several board games, a computer game, the Warzone miniature game, and the Doom Trooper CCG, which had over 1,200 individual cards and sold more than 170 million cards in 16 languages. During the past few years the world of Mutant Chronicles has rapidly grown in popularity again with an RPG from Modiphius Entertainment, and the Warzone miniatures game from Prodos Games. A new version of the classic “Siege of the Citadel” board game is in development, also from Modiphius Entertainment, in partnership with Cabinet Entertainment.
Regular coverage of board game experiences on mobile, PC/MAC, Console and more.
