Donald attended the Highwycome School of Art and Design before moving to the midlands where he worked in the print and publishing industry. His love of all things maritime eventually drawing him to the far west of Cornwall.
Surrounded by the rugged Cornish cliffs, here he found the inspiration he’d been looking for, with Cornwalls rich romantic history of smuggling, piracy, shipwrecks, and wild adventure on the high seas. Donald’s evocative images have an atmosphere of their own, with the glowing light from an old harbourside shop window or the flash of broadsides from the high masted ships of the glory days of sail.
Donald works in his studio/gallery on the harbourside in the picturesque fishing village of St Ives, and lives in a cornish cottage in St Ives bay with his fiancée, two dogs, five chickens and a parrot.
His original oil paintings are to found in many private collections throughout the world.
