Carlos Soto Power is a new board game designer from Ecuador, South America. He has been on BGG as an active user since 2008 (user: FinrondFelagund), and a board game geek at heart since he was a child.
During the last ten years he has been actively trying to get more Ecuadorian people to the world of board games.
In 2008 he formed a playing group called "El Mono Lúdico", a social network group to serve as a "bridge" between people interested in board games in Ecuador.
El Mono Lúdico, which could be translated as "The Ludic Ape", has been maintaining periodical face to face game meetings since then.
In 2016 he gave a lecture about board games in Yachay University of Ecuador. The conference was titled "Modern board games: growth prospects in Latin America".
At the present, he has joined with Diego Albuja Ortiz, another board game designer from Ecuador, to form Juegos Misi, an Ecuadorian board game publisher. To date, the games published by Juegos Misi are:
SOS Galápagos (bilingual edition English/Spanish);
MISI (Spanish edition); and
MISI: Expansión Perros y Gatos (Spanish edition).
Carlos Soto's intention (and the goal of Juegos Misi) is to continue the path of creating/publishing interesting/innovative board games, not only for the Ecuadorian market, but to be published abroad.
Next upcoming projects:
Megadiverse Ecuador (a self-designed cooperative board game, continuing the ecological approach of SOS Galápagos).
You Rock! (a game co-designed by Diego Albuja and Carlos Soto).
