Frederic Volker Grunfeld (June 2, 1929 - December 9, 1987) was an author and journalist who wrote the book Games of the World. Born in Berlin, Germany, he grew up in Queens, New York City after his family fled Nazi Germany. Grunfeld was a retired colonel in the United States Army Reserve. He died of a heart attack in Barcelona, Spain. He had been living near the small coastal village of Deya on the Spanish island of Majorca.
