Philip S. Kosnett is an American Senior Foreign Service Officer who designed and developed games for Jagdpanther, SPI, and Metagaming in the 1970s and 1980s, while a high school and college student.
Since joining the Foreign Service in 1983, Kosnett has spent most of his State Department career in positions dealing with counterterrorism, security cooperation and crisis management, including:
2016- present, deputy chief of mission/charge d'affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Ankara, Turkey.
2011-2014, deputy chief of mission at the U.S. Embassy in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
2009-2010, political-military counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan.
2008-2009, deputy political-military counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq.
2007-2008, foreign policy advisor to the commanding general, Multi-National Corps–Iraq.
2004-2007, deputy chief of mission/charge d'affaires at the U.S. Embassy Reykjavik, Iceland.
2004, provincial administrator for Najaf, Iraq, under the Coalition Provisional Authority.
He has also served in Kosovo, The Netherlands, Japan, and Turkey as well as several tours in Washington.
He graduated from Harvard in 1982.
