From Kadon Enterprises' Dezign-8 rules:
"The original Dezign concept was created in 1959 by William A. Briggs, an architect of note and holder of numerous patents and copyrights. The game was first silkscreened on tile and later produced in several woods. In 1997 Elouise Briggs had Dezign, consisting of 48 tiles in four tile patterns, manufactured in walnut. When Elouise introduced that set to Kate Jones of Kadon Enterprises, Inc., Kate was inspired to expand the set to all 8 possible tile patterns that belong in the family of 1, 2, 3, and 4 path exits, and Dezign-8 was born."
