Ralph was born in Jackson Mississippi in 1952. Since then he has lived in Connecticut (Stamford, Norwalk and Prospect), Florida (Sarasota and Miami), Massachusetts (Amherst and Northampton), New Jersey (Runnemede), Texas (San Antonio and Austin), Pennsylvania (Greensburg and Pittsburgh - drove cab in Philadelphia), Ohio (Oberlin), Georgia (Rome) and New York (NYC). Ralph also lived in Germany 3 times for 3 months each time in the period 1967 - 1973.
Currently Ralph resides in Prospect CT with his wife Sandy and 4 cats: Kiki and Nani (hers) & Loki and Hermes (his).
After many years and many majors including Bio-Chem, Linguistics, and Languages, Ralph earned a BA in Theatre Arts from UMass Amherst 1977 (after also attending New College in Sarasota FL 1970-71 and Hampshire College in Amherst MA in 1972 as an undergraduate and 1973 - 75 as a staff member). Ralph has an MFA in Directing for the Theatre from the Univ. of Texas - Austin 1980 and is ABD for the Ph.D. in Theatre History, Literature and Criticism at the Univ. of Pittsburgh where he studied in the early 1980's specializing in Comedy, Elizabethan and Jacobean Tradgedy, Ibsen and the Modern Theatre 1930 to 1980.
Overall Ralph spent 25 years in theatre as a director, teacher, fight choreographer and actor, the last 10 of those years in NYC working off-off and further off Broadway specializing in working with new playwrights. He worked at Circle in the Square Theatre for 5 years in the late 1980's and early 1990's.
Ralph then worked at HBO in NYC for 19 years and was the Service Center Manager there until he left corporate life and turned his hobby into his vocation - gaming.
Ralph designed his first game CHIMERA in 2013 published by ZMAN GAMES.
Ralph worked for three-and-a-half years in Game Publishing for Eagle-Gryphon Games (FRED Distribution, Inc.) The highlight of his time there were being the project manager and creative director (and the chief cook and bottle washer) for Mike Fitzgerald's BASEBALL HIGHLIGHTS 2045. Ralph continues to consult with Eagle-Gryphon Games on special projects.
Ralph now works as a freelance consultant for game design, development, as well as play testing, editing rules and kickstarters and other special projects related to the card and board game world. He is also working on some new game designs - so stay tuned!
