A genre of board game involving spacial movement, where at least one player's movement is hidden from other players. Since deduction is necessarily used to locate a hidden player, the genre may be considered a subset of deduction games. For this genre, the operative word is movement, as this differentiates the games from other deduction games involving hidden information.
A common convention of the genre is for only one player’s movement to be hidden, while the other players cooperate to find them. Though, as with most any genre, that convention is oftentimes modified.
An early hidden movement games, and a classic in the genre, is Scotland Yard.
