Convergent Games is a board game publishing company situated within the heart of Canada in Winnipeg, the city of temperature extremes. Convergent Games is committed to game design that balances depth and accessibility, allowing for engrossing strategic experiences without being bogged down in complexity.
We are currently working on two projects, Crop Cycle and Centaurus. Crop Cycle: The game of competitive farming uses a season mechanic that only allows certain crop cards to be played and harvested in certain seasons, with the game ending when one player gains sufficient victory points through successfully harvesting crops.
Crop Cycle is a card game centered on farming, with a season mechanic that limits the type of card to the appropriate season. The card images use photos taken from around Manitoba and put through a series of posterizing effects from our very talented digital designer Daniel Prairie. Thanks to the use of real world images, we have been able to make rapid artistic gains on Crop Cycle and are slating for a Kickstarter launch in late October, 2014.
We are also developing Centaurus, a multi-year project that has spanned many revisions and redesigns as we fine-tuned our game into a product we are proud to showcase. Centaurus is a fast-paced strategy game that features our favorite elements of table-top wargaming in an apocalyptic fantasy setting. Once we are satisfied with the design and artwork, we will release the game to the crowd-funding community.
Not living exclusively online, Convergent Games also regularly attends conventions and hosts playtests locally within Winnipeg. If you are interested in participating in a playtest and meeting the staff in person, contact us at email@example.com with the subject line “Playtest” and we will be happy to add you to the playtester pool.
