In the early summer of 2006, "Cap'n" John Morgan came to his lunchtime game group with a prototype pirate card game he dubbed 'Treasure Fleet.' Using a modified deck of ordinary playing cards affixed with printed labels, the group playtested the game and gave it very positive reviews. Over the summer, John refined his game. Later that summer, he widened the scope of the playtesters, and continued to get overwhelmingly positive support.
Encouraged, he began investigating what it would take to publish the game. Soon after, a handful of the orginal playtesters approached John and pledged to assist him, as they were all interested in becoming game designers. They decided their chances at going broke were a little slimmer as a company than going it alone. Plus, if they sank, they'd all sink together. Thus, Ship of Fools Games was launched! Yo Ho!
