In 1995, the german artist and designer "gamin" (aka Andreas Lenz) invented his first game "Charon" in a holliday on Canary Island. "I read about an old greek game, whose name was lost and in which a "single stone" played an important role... I was very proud, because the felicitous mechanism of "Charon" has a real classical character! Therefor I was looking for a packaging, that allows me to carry "Charon" with me, wherever I'm at ease to play... The materials should be beautifull, basic and durable!" The first gamin game in a leather pouch with real stones was born.
"Furthermore I constructed a metal "shutter", which looks like a cyclop and gives the games their personality."
Gamin successfully presented his first 3 games in a pouch to public, at the Essen Toyfair in October 1995: "Charon", "Mühle" (Nine Mens Morris) and "Pari", a variante of a very small tactical game, played by roman soldiers. The Label of his Game Publishing Company was "STEIN REICH" (wich means "filthy rich" and "realm of the stones").
In 1996, gamin changed channels in good fun and lived up to his name: "gamin".
In the meantime gamin designed many different games in a pouch: new ones, classics, forgotten culturals, single editions for wellknown brands... They all have prominent features in common: interresting mechanism, quick to learn, short playing time, everywhere near by, beautifull, basic and durable – A perfect gift!
