Atlantic was an Italian toy manufacturing company based in Treviglio from 1966 to 1984. In the 1970s it became widely popular both in Italy and in Europe as a producer of 1:32 and HO-scale toy soldiers and vehicles.
Besides toy soldiers, Atlantic produced "Giocagoal" (a cheaper version of Subbuteo), "Super Basket" (a basket-themed game), some WWII and Old West/Indian Wars themed war-board games, and a famous line of space action figures, known as Atlantic Galaxy Series (or Universe Voyagers in France and Galaxia in Spain). The Galaxy series included a very simple, but well endowed of game pieces (5" SF action figures) war-boardgame: the "Cosmoscacchi". Moreover A. produced another SF w-bg, "Battaglia Spaziale", that employ its own 1/32 sapce-themed toy soldiers: the Legionari & Mostri Spaziali.
The original Atlantic company ceased to exist in 1984; in the late 1990s, the "Atlantic" brand and logo were acquired by Nexus Editrice.
Today the Atlantic logo is a trademark of Nexus Editrice S.r.L. (Grosseto, Italy) and is property of Italeri S.p.A. (Calderara di Reno, Bologna, Italy).
