Fuchs und Henne, Schmidt Spiele, Eching, Germany, approx. 1986. Currently out of print as a separate game. It used to be available without the great box cover art being part of a game collection. Unfortunately even that one seems to be out of print.
Although the box cover art and board art is extremely valuable compared to other print editions of this or similar Fox and Hens games dated and published after 1980 the quality of the rest lags.
No artist is named, no publishing date/year on board or box, no printed leaflet with rules text. Simplified rules are just printed on the backside of the box. The rules text can be called quite incomplete and does not cover any special situation usually occurring while game play. This way with the limited space on backside of box the short rules are translated into four languages. Most likely the publishers opinion has been that detailed rules are not necessary since it is a traditional game and it might be commonly well known.
Own experience has shown that exact and well formulated complete rules are often not known and thus the game play is problematic. The game's complexity is underestimated quite often and Fox and Hens is treated as a low level children's game only.
