Description Edit | History

This Subbuteo game was produced in 1981 to introduce younger players to the game. Sport Billy was a cartoon character in the early eighties who represented "playing fair". He was the mascot for the 1982 World Cup in Spain.

The players in this five-a-side edition were considerably larger than normal Subbuteo players, intended to be easier for a smaller child to handle. The moulds had chubby-cheeked cherubic Billy represented on every base in Yellow/Green kit or Red/Blue. The characters had SB embossed on them, and Fifa on their shorts. The pitch was smaller but other components were the same as in standard Subbuteo. The fold-out rulesheet was a simplified version of the standard rules, and featured cartoony images throughout.
