Description Edit | History

This is the celebrated World Map edition of Acquire. This version featured a folding cardboard board with an illustration of a Mercator-projection world map, with the traditional Acquire grid overlay thereon. This early version of the game also featured slightly different rules that called for distribution of some stock before the game began, and a purchase limit of one share per round.

Acquire was first published in mid-1964. This "World Map" edition was actually a test marketing edition, which came out very late in 1963. (Sid Sackson received his copy of the World Map edition on December 11, 1963.) The copyright date of Acquire is not the publication date.
