The Belgian fortress of Eben Emael fell on May 10-11 1940. The German raid was daring and at the time unheard of attack made by less than 100 paratroopers landed by gliders. Gliders from the Sky is a fast and furious solitaire game that should be playable in less than an hour once you master the rules. To try to make the victory harder to achieve, several variants and optional rules are provided, based on the historical situation and on several what-if situations that could have happened during those fateful hours that cleared the way for the shocking German victory in the West.
This project started by wanting to make a simple and fun game that was playable solitaire in perhaps one hour or less. In past years, designer Roberto Chiavini, loved AH's Storm over Arnhem system and started this project trying to make something similar, but found it easier and more suitable to model the battle as a solo situation. There are several game options which allow for greater responses by the Belgian defenders and presents a more challenging game for the player.
