Simulacrum was first published in 1998 (after I'd spent two years and a divorce editing the Strategy Gaming Society's monthly 'zine Strategist), and issue 30 was recently published. It began as a quarterly journal, but this started to take up far too much of my discretionary time, so it became an annual publication. As a result of a couple of very serious health issues, it took almost three years to go from issue 29 to issue 30. That's life. The other major change was from a 50-page hard copy in B&W to about 100 pages of PDF file in glorious colour.
Simulacrum will likely continue, in one form or another, for as long as I can stand it, as obstinate and hopeful as those old socialist newspapers of the 20s and 30s. In a sense, it's my blog, with the added advantage that nobody disagrees with me because nobody can find me.
