Description Edit | History

This is the first edition of the game, patented in France by Hermance Edan and self-published in 1909.

The original edition has several features that were dropped by H.P. Gibson after it bought the international rights in 1916: the playing pieces are mounted on pebbled metal backs (all the same shiny silver), and the board features ribbons pinned to reach row that help player keep their pieces upright and aligned.

Gibson kept the original English and French uniformed pieces for its early editions, but saved money by abandoning the metal backing and board ribbons.
